1. A brother and a sister share out their collection of 5000 stamps in the ratio of 5:3. The brother then
shares his stamps with two friends in the ratio of 3:1:1 keeping most of most for him. How many stamps
does each of his friend receive?
Solution:
Total number of stamps are 5000.
Let, brother gets 5x rupees and sister gets 3x rupees.
According to question,
5x + 3x = 5000
Or, 8x = 5000
5000
Or, x = 8
=625
So, brother gets (5 ×625) = 3125
and sister gets (3×625)=1875
Again brother shares his stamp between his two friends.
Let brother gets 3y stamps.
and 1st friend gets y stamps and 2nd friend gets y stamps.
According to question,
3y + y + y =3125
Or, 5y =3125
3125
Or, y = =625
5
He gets (3×625)=1875 stamps.
and 1st friend gets 625;stamps and 2nd friend gets 625 stamps.
Each friend gets 625 stamps.
Answer: 625 Stamps

4. The ratio between the length and the breadth of a rectangular park is 3:2. If a man cycling along the
boundary of the park at the speed of 12 km/hour completes one round in 8 minutes, then what is the
area of the park in square metre?
Solution:
Perimeter = Distance travelled in 8 minutes,
12km 12×1000
So,Perimeter = hour
× 8𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠 = 60
𝑚/𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠 × 8 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠 =1600
[Distance=Speed×Time]
Let, length of a rectangular park is 3x and width of a rectangular park is 2x
So,2(3x+2x)=1600 [ perimeter of rectangle = 2(lenth + breadth) ]
or, 10x = 1600
or, x=160
So, Length =160×3=480m
and Width =160×2=320m
Finally, Area of the park=length×breadth
=480×320 square metre
=153600 square metre

Solution:
Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)  Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)

The total area of the field is 30 × 30 = 900 sq metres

Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)  Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)
The cows are can access only a quarter of what the reach of
their rope as they are in a corner so all four of
them graze 4 quarters = 4 Cows × four corners × 𝜋r 2
1 22
=4×4× 7

4. There are two examination rooms A and B. If 10 students are sent from A to B, the number of students
in each room is the same. If 20 candidates are sent from B to A, then the number of students in A is
doubles the number of students in B. What is the number of students in room A ?
Solution:
Let the number of students in room A and the number of students in room B be a & b respectively.
If 10 candidates are sent from A to B, the number of students in each room is same.
This implies,
a−10 = b+10
or, a = b+10+10
or, a = b+20 .....................................(i)
If 20 candidates are sent from B to A, the number of students in A is double the number of students in B.
a+20=2(b−20)
a+20=2b−40
b+20+20=2b−40 (From (i))
2b−b=40+40
b = 80
Substituting b=80 in equation (i), we get,
a=80+20
or, a=100
The number of students in room A 100

n(A ∪ B ∪ C) = n(A) + n(B) + n(C)- n(A ∩ B) - n(B ∩ C) - n(C ∩ A) + n(A ∩ B ∩ C)

Or, 40 = 18 + 20 + 27 -7-12 – n(C ∩ A)+ 4
Or, 40 = 50 - n(C ∩ A)
Or, n(C ∩ A) = 50 – 40 =10

Number of people who had Voter ID, n(V)
Number of people who had both Passport and Voter ID n(PV) =30.
n(PV) =115-15 = 100
We know,
n(PV) = n(P) + n(V) – n(PV)
Or, 100 = 65 + n(V) – 30
n(V) = 100-65+30 = 65
65 people had Voter ID.
The number of people who had Voter ID only = 65-30 = 35.

Here, Mr. Rashid has saved in the first month, a = Taka 1200.
Increase in savings in each month, d = Taka 100.
So, Mr. Rashid has saved in the 2nd month = Taka 1200+100=Tk.1300
Mr. Rashid has saved in the 3rd month = Taka 1300+100= Tk.1400
So we get a sequence, 1200 + 1300 + 1400 + ----------------- + 106200
According to the question,
𝑛
{2𝑎 + (𝑛 − 1)𝑑}= 106200
2
𝑛
or, 2 {2 × 1200 + (𝑛 − 1)100}= 106200
𝑛
or, 2 × 2 {1200 + (𝑛 − 1)150} = 106200
or, {1200n + (𝑛² − 1)150} = 106200
or, n² + 23n = 2124
or, n² + 59n - 36n - 2124 = 0
or, (n+59)(n-36) = 0
n = 36 or, n = -59 (as n = -59 is not accepted on the ground that the number of terms cannot be a negative
number).
Ans: 36 months or 3 years.

5. The area of a rectangle is 1200 square meter. If the length of the rectangle is reduced by 10 meters, it
becomes a square. Calculate the length of the diagonal of the rectangle.
6. Solution:
Given, If the length of the rectangle is reduced by 10 meters, it becomes a square.
That implies: the length of the rectangle is 10 meters more than its width.
Suppose, the width of the rectangle is = x meters.
According to the question:
x(x+10) = 1200
x² + 10x - 1200 = 0
(x+40)(x-30) = 0
x = 30, (as x = -40 is not acceptable on the ground that the value of a length cannot be a negative number)
So, the width of the rectangle is = 30 meters,
and the length of the rectangle is = 30+10 = 40 meters.
So, the length of the diagonal of the rectangle is = √(40²+30²) = 50 meters.

the perimeter of the Rhombus.

Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)  Created by Sumon K. Sarkar  FB Group : BD job Info. (BCS & Bank)
7. Solution:
Let, the length of a side of the rhombus is = a meters,
and that of the other diagonal is = d meters.
= (𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑡ℎ𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑔𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑠)
We know, area of a rhombus 2
=> 120 = (10×d)/2
=> d = 24 meters.
Again, We know, 4a² = 24² + 10²
or, a² = 169
or, a = 13
So, the perimeter of the rhombus is = 4a = 4×13 = 52 meters.
Answer: 52 meters.

7. The area of an equilateral triangle is 3√3 square meter. Determine the area of a circe inscribed within
the triangle.
8. Solution:
Let, the length of a side of the triangle is = a meters.
According to the question:
(√3/4)a² = 3√3
Or, a² = 12
Or, a = √12
Or, a = 2√3 meters.
We know, if a circle is inscribed to an equilateral triangle,
1
We know, the length of radius is 2 times of a triangle side.
√3
1
So, the radius of the circle is r = 2 3 × 2√3 = 1 meter.

2
So, the area of the circle is π𝑟 = π×1² = π ≈ 3.1416 square meters.
Answer: 3.1416 square meters
