Goof afternoon everyone,

In the business exercise, my 1st job started around 9.45 am in a general grocery store where I worked
as an accomplice. My tasks included Assisting in Inventory Management of stocks, handling day to
day tasks such as scanning products, collecting payments, comparing receipts with revenues, solving
customer inquiries etc.

The key learnings by working there was customer retention like if a customer comes and buys 3-4
products and one of the product is not available in your store, then in these type of situations you
don’t refuse the customer but order your own helper in the shop to go and pick or buy that product
on his behalf. In these type of products we don’t get the profit but get successful in retaining that
customer.

Grasped know-hows of Product Satisfaction like a customer came and instead of asking for
toothpaste, she directly asked for colgate, I suggested her that she can buy closeup also as in the
same price band close up is giving 7 gms extra, she bluntly said NO and said “hum colgate hi karte
hai, vahi acha hota hai”. This shows that how successfully colgate penetrated in the Indian
households and won the trust of consumers by their strong marketing and advertising. This shows
product satisfaction.

Got first experience of how to deal with wholesalers and distributors.

Absorbed a knowledge of time management and customer management like when many customers
come at the same time , then how to deal with them.

I didn’t earned any money there but the owner offered me lunch meals.

My second job was as an assistant in a gymnasium. Mainly, I handled the front desk tasks such as
taking phone calls, answering the inquiries, handling correspondence etc.

There I noticed that every data is registered in a notebook -offline kind of. I found that cumbersome
so I Completely transformed the work culture by digitizing the data and entries of clients from pen-
paper to excel using MS Excel skills learned in college.

This also helped me in clearing the clutter on the front desk as it should be clean and tidy . Like this is
the first look of the gym a customer gets when entering…so it needed to be clean and soothes the
eyes.

I also gained an understanding of networking and discounting to attract customers, like even if only
1 customer comes to the gym, the lights, ac, music system, drinking water etc, all should be on and
working. So even if 1 customer comes or 100 customer join, our expenses would remain same. So
giving attractive discounts is easy and for the gymnasiums to make it more n more profitable.

At the end the owner payed me 100 rupees for the work. And then at 5.15 around I left.
