Lesson Plan (Science Grade 9)

Content Standards:
a. How changes in the environment may affect species extinction.
Performance Standards:
a. Make a multimedia presentation of a timeline of extinction of
representative microorganisms, plants and animals.
Learning Competency:
The learners should be able to:
a. Discuss the natural and anthropogenic extinction;
b. Relate species extinction to the failure of population of
organism to adapt to abrupt changes in the environment;

c. Collect some reasons why species suffering on extinction.

Procedure:
Preliminary Routine:
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Review
 Motivation (Present some video clips)
 Setting of Objectives
 Using number coding strategy.
Activity:
 Present the pictures and learners will explain.
 Individual activity (Number Coding strategy)
A. Analysis:
 Asking some questions.
 Check the misconceptions of the learners.
Abstract:
 Discuss the topic through the prepared PPT.
 Check the misconception of the leaners.
 Let the learners draw the conclusion
B. Values Integration:
 The teacher will ask some of the endangered and extinct
animals in our ecosystems, and after that the teacher would
ask again why they become endangered or extinct?
 The teacher would share some of here information or ideas
about extinction. (relate to real life situation)
Application:
 Group the class by 3. (Fixed groups)
 On a 1 whole sheet of paper, they will collect some
information on how the environment will affect the extinct
and endangered species.
 Present their outputs in front of the class.
C. Evaluation:
 Present the prepared Assessment Test.

2. Define the word Respiration.
