Chapter 3 Excitation (Hi-RepII Source and MBS201 Stand)

3.1.4.1.2 60 Hz Mains

In the case where the source is connected to a network frequency of 60 Hz, the spark frequency is 360 Hz or
180 Hz. For an adjustment of the four time bases it is easier to force the functioning to 180 Hz. Therefore the
relays Ry1 of the both boards Power Supply and IGBT’s Gate Circuit and Synchro Pulse Generator
have to be activated. This can for example be obtained by shortening the points 16 and 17 of J2 on the
Synchro Pulse Generator board (S315294). On the TP4 of this board a pulse appears only every 16.67 ms
(corresponding to the zero crossing of one alternation change out of two of the network frequency). The
potentiometers P2, P3, P4 and P5 permit to adjust the four time bases to the values given in the figure below.
Finally with P1 the signal on TP1 is adjusted to remain during 1.25 ms at 0 Volt.

BR1 and BR2 must be positioned on 60 Hz.
