Chapter 2 B Electronics

2.3.2 Technical Description and Adjustments

2.3.2.1 Profile Measurement

A Burr-Brown converter, type VFC32KP is used for the measurement of the profile. It converts the pulses
generated by the IVFC board into a voltage proportional to the frequency of these pulses. The conversion
ratio is of 1 V for 50 kHz.

2.3.2.2 Converter Offset Adjustment

Using an IVFC board and an adjustable current source, create a profile signal close to zero (several tenths of
Hz) and adjust P6 so as to obtain, between TP4 and TP3, the corresponding voltage according to the relation
50 kHz = 1 V (for example 100 Hz will give 2 mV).

2.3.2.3 Converter Gain Adjustment

In the same way, inject a high frequency signal (~200 kHz) and adjust P8 so as to obtain the corresponding
voltage (200 kHz will give 4 V).
