PERMANENT MISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN TO THE UNITED NATIONS New YORK Press Statement The delegation of the Republic of South Sudan to the United Nations 77 General Assembly, led by H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Vice-President of the Republic of South met with Hon. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sahrawi Republic (SADR) at the margins of the UN General Assembly on September 20, 2022. The two heads of delegations discussed issues of bilateral relations, where H.E. the Vice-President confirmed to the Hon. Minister that South Sudan is committed to the position of the African Union (AU) on the issue of Western Sahrawi, which was also adopted in the South Sudan’s Council of Ministers Resolution recently. Based on the position of the AU and the Resolution of the Council of Ministers’ cited above, South Sudan looks forward to re-establishing diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Republic.
