Ryan P Rosario BSECE 2 Power Supply

Electronics Technology (LAB) Engr. Roderick Cabaa

A power supply is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electric loads. The term is most commonly applied to devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another. A regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value; the controlled value is held nearly constant despite variations in either load current or the voltage supplied by the power supply's energy source.

Objectives:
1. To know the functions of the different components in the Power Supply. 2. To learn the output of voltage and current in the selected resistor

Definition of Terms: 1. Transistor- is a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch electronic signals. It is
made of a solid piece of semiconductor material, with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit. A voltage or current applied to one pair of the transistor's terminals changes the current flowing through another pair of terminals. Capacitor- is a passive electronic component consisting of a pair of conductors separated by a dielectric (insulator). An ideal capacitor is characterized by a single constant value, capacitance, measured in farads. Resistor- is a two-terminal passive electronic component which implements electrical resistance as a circuit element. When a voltage V is applied across the terminals of a resistor, a current I will flow through the resistor in direct proportion to that voltage. Transformer is a static device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors the transformer's coils. A varying current in the first or primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core and thus a varying magnetic field through the secondary winding. Fuse- A device used in electrical systems to protect against excessive current. Switch- In electronics, a switch is an electrical component that can break an electrical circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another. Diode- The most common function of a diode is to allow an electric current to pass in one direction (called the diode's forward direction) while blocking current in the opposite direction (the reverse direction).

Conclusion:
I therefore conclude that all components connected must be correct and soldered well. And we must be careful in connecting the polarity of one component to another especially in the components have polarities.
