The Portuguese territory includes two autonomous regions: the archipelagos of Madeira and
Azores, located in the Atlantic Ocean
The Madeira archipelago consists of the islands of Madeira, Porto Santo, Desertas and Selvagens,
and the Azores archipelago consists of nine islands and some islets: Santa Maria, São Miguel,
Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, Faial, Flores and Corvo.
Portugal occupies a total area of 92,212 Km2 and shares a land border with Spain.
The climate in continental Portugal is generally not very cold but warmer. In winter, apart from the
northern region, it rarely snows, but in summer it is hot all over the country.
On the islands, as they are in the middle of the ocean, there is a lot of humidity and some rain.
One of our country's strongest points is tourism, because our country is full of history.
The pastel de bacalhau (codfish pastry) consists of a pastry which is wrapped in fish and then fried.
Just like the pastel de Bacalhau we also have the paste de nata which is a sweet with egg filling
and puff pastry.
As we are a country bordering the sea, we eat a lot of fish and one of our traditional dishes is
grilled sardines.
Like the Açorda de marisco which consists of bread soaked in seafood broth
In the north one of the best known dishes is the famous francesinha, which is basically layers of
meat wrapped in bread with cheese on top.
Just like cozido à portuguesa , which as the name indicates is boiled meat accompanied by
vegetables
ABOUT HERE WE LIVE
Our land is known for its abundant cattle , by the rice field and the “campinos”.
The campino is the "flagship" of this region! His red jacket is a hot spot of blood and joy to attract
the fury of the bulls.
We have our Companhia das Lezírias which is very well known, and some students who have been
to Portugal have been lucky enough to visit it (it's a joke).
