At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1.Listens perceptively to selected 20th century music.
2.Observe their distinct techniques and styles.
3.Familiarize the primary composers of each musical styles

ACTIVITY 1 – Throwback Time:
When you were in Grade 9, you learned about Western Music
and its history from Middle Ages to the Romantic Period. Let
us go back to those eras of Music. Try to recall the
characteristics of music in the following periods:
1.Middle Ages _______________________________
2.Renaissance _______________________________
3.Baroque Period _______________________________
4.Classical Period ______________________________
5.Romantic Period ______________________________
B. Development What’s In
-As you continue your journey through the ages of music, you
will get a view of how music has developed into what it is
today. The First Quarter covers Music of the 20 th Century
which is also known as Contemporary Music. You will discover
different movements in this period, meet the different
composers and observe their distinct techniques and styles.
1. Discussion on Impressionism and its primary
composers – Claude Debussy and Maurice
Ravel and their compositions
Let the students familiarize the primary composers
and their composition in the Impressionism
Movement through asking series of questions.
2. Discussion on Expressionism and its primary
composers of Expressionism Movement – Arnold
Schoenberg, Igor Stravinsky and their compositions
