What are the challenges to digital education?

In contrast to traditional classroom learning, digital education has many advantages for both teachers and students. Teaching and learning can
happen when and where it is most convenient for everyone.

Of course, digital learning has its own set of problems as well as its advantages. Many students who do well in a traditional classroom will have a
hard time in an online class. Even people who understand the subject quickly can fall behind on tasks and fail tests.

It is very important for teachers to be aware of these possible roadblocks. As long as you do some planning and organizing, you can help your
students get the most out of their time in each class.

Five Digital Education Problems: How to Overcome Them

1. Self-discipline is very important.

Many students have trouble with self-discipline in a high school classroom. Their parents and teachers haven’t been keeping an eye on them for
the first time in their lives. They are not grounded if they don’t do their homework so that they can go out and have fun with their friends instead.
Getting the internal drive to do something can take some time for some people.

Of course, you can’t threaten to take kids’ car keys if they don’t do their work. However, you can give them tools that will help them become
more self-disciplined. A shared calendar for the class with reminders about due dates is a good place to start. It also helps to have an interactive
syllabus, where students can check off assignments as they are done.

What students should be doing right now, how far they’ve come, and what is coming up next should be made clear as much as possible.
Calendars, reminders, and other organizational tools can help keep things in order without being intrusive.

2. Poor Social Interaction

College is a very social place, and for many of us, it is where we meet our long-term friends and even our future spouse. A physical classroom’s
social energy can help people learn: there are debates, people bounce ideas off each other, form groups, and help each other up.

When you take an online class, you can’t get the same sense of group learning, cooperation, and socialization that you get in person. Pupils
should make introductions and talk to each other outside of class. If you’ve set up a forum for the course, make a separate section for non-course
discussion.

Then, make cooperation an important part of the class. Students should be encouraged to form groups and work together on shared documents
(like Google Docs). Allow for (but don’t make) group projects as part of the evaluation process. Students should be encouraged to make
important comments about both the course materials and their own work. People should be pushed to start these talks, but collaboration and
involvement should quickly pick up speed after that.

3. There is not enough contact between the teacher and the student.

The amount of interaction that students have with their teachers can be hard to tell when they’re on a real school campus. During training time,
there are real-time question and answer sessions. When you go to school, you can meet people before and after class, go to office hours, and
meet people in the hallway. All of these things aren’t available with online learning.

In order for teachers to be available for online courses, they need to do more. If you don’t want to give students your cell phone number or
become friends with them on social media, you don’t have to. However, it’s worth setting up a class-specific chat account for students and setting
up times when they can expect a quick response. It’s also important to respond to emails quickly.

Most importantly, be there when students are talking about class material. Respond to comments, answer questions, and make people want to
ask more. This way, you can be there for kids while also encouraging them to learn from each other.

4. Not managing your time well

Even though this problem is related to the section on self-discipline, it is different enough to warrant its own entry. Many people think that online
education is a good thing because it lets students move at their own pace. It can be good, but the same thing can also be bad. At some point,
“their own pace” turns into “procrastination and a race to the end of the term.” It is very important to help students learn how to manage their
time well before they have to do it.

It is better if you can be a little more flexible with how the course goes while still keeping it organized. “By January 4th, students should have read
X pages, made X forum comments, and chosen a project topic.” The teacher should tell the students that they can work ahead of time, but they
will be held accountable for meeting the term’s goals.

5. There are technological problems for digital education

We think that everyone has a laptop or desktop computer which is the most recent model. This is what we think. Even so, not all students have
had the same level of access to technology, even in a group of people who are very tech-savvy. Many people do all of their online work on their
smartphones or tablet. Some people won’t even be able to use broadband or Wi-Fi because their phone contract will cover all of their data
needs.

It is very important that course materials move away from the PC-based model of the early 2000s. Downloading files, printing pages, or even
using Word documents may be out of date for people who use their phones and tablets all the time. It is important to choose course materials
that are easy to use on smartphones and tablets, as well as laptops and desktop computers.

Online, help your students stay on track.

When it comes to online learning, there are both good and bad things about it. It can make education more accessible and convenient for both
teachers and students but there are also some downsides. It is important to think about possible roadblocks and give students the tools they
need to get over them. With the right structure, technology, and course materials, students can be better prepared to do well in your class and in
the future.

Caduceus makes health curricula that are multi-dimensional and interactive so that students learn more and have fun. There are a lot of different
courses that we offer here.
