Different Part/Components of a System Unit and Motherboard

System Unit:
-System unit has a 15 Components and each of it has a different function and purpose
and that components are…

*Modem - It is a hardware component that allows a computer or another device, such

as a router or switch, to connect to the Internet.

*Processor - The processor, also known as the CPU, provides the instructions and
processing power the computer needs to do its work.

*Memory - computer memory, device that is used to store data or programs (sequences
of instructions) on a temporary or permanent basis for use in an electronic digital
computer.

*Case/chassis - Alternatively referred to as the case and sometimes referred to as

the system unit or base unit. The chassis is the housing that helps protect
and organize all the components that make up a desktop computer.

*Power Supply - A power supply is an electronic circuit that converts the voltage of an
alternating current (AC) into a direct current (DC) voltage.

*Floppy drive - The floppy disk drive, also known as diskette, is a removable magnetic
storage medium that allows recording of data.

[b]
*Hard disk - A hard disk drive (HDD), hard disk, hard drive, or fixed disk is an electro-
mechanical data storage device that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic storage with
one or more rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material.

*CD- ROM, CD-RW OR DVD-ROM drive - A DVD-ROM permanently stores data files
which cannot be changed, written over or erased, but as for todays generation DVD
roms slowly becoming obsolete.

*Keyboard - A keyboard is for putting information including letters, words and numbers
into your computer.

*Mouse - A computer mouse is a handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a
GUI (graphical user interface) for pointing, moving and selecting text, icons, files, and
folders on your computer.

*Video card - A video card is a discrete dedicated circuit board, silicon chip and
necessary cooling that provides 2D, 3D and sometimes even general purpose
graphics processing (GPGPU) calculations for a computer.

*Monitor (display) - A computer monitor is an output device that displays information in

pictorial or text form.
*Sound card - A sound card (also referred to as an audio card) is a peripheral device that
attaches to the ISA or PCI slot on a motherboard to enable the computer to input,
process, and deliver sound.

*Speakers - A computer speaker is an output hardware device that connects to a

computer to generate sound.

*Motherboard - A motherboard is the main printed circuit board (PCB) in a computer.

The motherboard is a computer's central communications backbone connectivity point,
through which all components and external peripherals connect. Motherboards can be found
in virtually all computers, especially desktop and laptop PCs.

For the different parts of Motherboard, motherboard has 20 parts.

1. CPU (Central Processing Unit) chip

2. RAM (Random Access Memory) slots
3. Southbridge/northbridge
4. BIOS (Basic Input/Output System)
5. I/O port
6. USB (Universal Serial Bus)
7. CPU slot
8. PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) slot
9. AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) slot
10. ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) slot
11. Parallel port
12. FDC (Floppy-Disk Controller)
13. IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) controller
14. CMOS (Complementary Metal-oxide-semiconductor)
battery
15. Power supply connector
16. Mouse and keyboard ports
17. DIP (Dual In-line Package) switch
18. Jumper
19. Heat sink/heatsink (cooling system)
20. Clock generator

And without any of these components, Computers Are not perfect, but
sometimes it is, because there are items that is being modern and some
are slowly becoming obsolete.
