CORREGIDOR
HISTORY: The famous last bastion
of Philippine-American defense
forces, is part of Cavite City. Is an
Island fortress where Filipino and
American forces fought against the
Japanese invaders in 1942. it has
become a tourist attraction with
tunnels, cannons and other war
structures still well-preserved. The
famous line of General Douglas McArthur said is associated with Corregidor:
“ I SHALL RETURN!”

TAAL VOLCANO

HISTORY: Taal Volcano is one of the


most visited tourist spots in Batangas.
Standing 311+ meters above sea level, it is
considered as the smallest active volcano
in the Philippines located within a lake,
Taal Lake. Inside the volcano there is
another lake, Taal Crater Lake. This
interesting feature makes a really
picturesque view. Visitors can ride a boat
to reach the foot of the volcano and from there one can either trek or ride a horse to reach the
top. Taal Volcano falls under the jurisdiction of the towns of Talisay and San Nicolas,
Batangas.

BALESIN ISLAND

HISTORY: Balesin Island is made up


of 424 hectares of land with 7.3
kilometers of pristine white sand
beaches.  A short history of the island
tells us that during the Japanese
occupation in the country, there was a
contingent of seven soldiers living on
the island.  During those years, all they
did was to ask fishermen to go fish, get

coconuts, bike around the area and get a massage.  When they were called to Manila to
surrender, they couldn’t believe that there had been any fighting.
