KUNWAR DANISH ALI: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) the total number of cases registered with regard to atrocities against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) particularly related to preventing them from mounting on a mare in marriage, stopping the marriage procession and stopping playing of DiscoJockey (DJ Music), cic, during the last three years and the current year, State-wise; and (b) the details of steps taken by the Government to stop such cases in future in the country? ANSWER, MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT. (SHRI RAMDAS ATHAWALE) (a) & (b): As per the report of the National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, the number of cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 during the year 2018 to 2020 is given at Annexure. “Police” and ‘Public Order’ are State subjects and the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 is implemented by the respective State Governments and Union Territory Administrations. The Government reviews with the law implementing agencies of the State Government for ensuring prompt registering of atrocities, speedy investigation of the offences and timely disposal of cases by the Courts.
