This / These & That / Those

This – used for one thing that is close by

These – used for many things that are close by

eg : This is an orange. These are oranges.

This is a kitten. These are kittens.
This is a plant. These are plants.

This is an umbrella. These are umbrellas.

This is a ball. These are balls.

That – used for one thing that is far away

Those – used for many things that are far away

eg : That is a peacock. Those are peacocks.

That is an aeroplane.
That is a castle.
That is a rainbow.
That is a forest.
Those are aeroplanes.
Those are castles.
Those are rainbows.
Those are forests.
1. Look at the picture and write six sentences with “ This is..” and
six sentences with “ That is..“

2. Turn the sentences into plural using “These are.. “ and “Those
are..”

eg: This is a chair. These are chairs.

That is a star. Those are stars.
