The Revival of Spa Industry: A Planning and Development of Ada’s Garden Spa Hotel and
Resort in Gibanga Sariaya, Quezon
1. Background of the Plan and the Outline of the Presentation
Within the Province of Quezon Sariaya, an inland municipality of Quezon Province is located
126 kilometers south of the National Capital Region and approximately 11 kilometers from the
provincial Capital City of Lucena. It is traversed by the “Daang Maharlika” and the Philippine
National Railways. It is bounded on the north of Mt. Banahaw, on the northeast by Tayabas,
Quezon, on the east by the City of Lucena, on the south by the Tayabas Bay, on the southwest by
San Antonio, Quezon and on the west by the Municipality of Candelaria. The nearest
municipalities are Candelaria, Lucban, Dolores, Pagbilao, San Juan and Liliw.
The researcher’s purpose is to study and search for further development of the Ada’s Garden
Spa Hotel and Resort in Barangay Gibanga Sariaya, Quezon to provide a safety, clean and more
relaxing spa around the city. The researcher function is to give an idea to improve the
establishment in the Municipality of Sariaya, Quezon. The research would like to provide a
propose plan to give the city the idea how they would develop the tourism sector. In this
establishment the researchers are going to studied by conducting an interview, survey and ocular
visit in order to see and understand the situation of the establishment and action plan to
contribute by the researchers in the Establishment.
INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study
As one of the fastest developing new industries on the market today, the enterprise of health
is no exception. Health Spas are the rising style and show a growing want to rejuvenate one's
adolescence and preserve a wholesome Wellness lifestyle. Much of the recognition of these
facilities can be attributed to the “Baby Boomer” generation. As a giant share of the populace

grows older, they begin to seem for non-traditional ways to maintain their youth or at least the
feeling of youth.
Many believe that a massage is merely a way to pamper themselves, however, a massage is
much more than a momentary feel-good treatment. In fact, spa treatments are important in
helping you maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being, especially when you make it
part of your regular wellness routine.
Although there are many spas in the Municipality of Sariaya researchers had decided to
conduct their study in Ada’s Garden spa Hotel and Resort in Baranagay Gibanga Sariaya
Quezon. Ada’s garden is a kind of spa that offers hotel and resort it is under the health tourism.
Ada’s has the only spa in the municipality with a Red Soil Sauna "Infrared Sauna “and this can
help tourist and visitors improve blood circulation, eases joint pain and stiffen, strengthen the
cardiovascular system and burn calories and controls weights. The researchers believe that this
establishment could be one of the fastest-growing spa hotel and resort in the province of Quezon
and could be known not just in locally but internationally. The importance of this research is to
help Ada’s Garden in marketing by reviving their promotional strategies like the platforms.
2. Present condition and Identification of Development Issues
An old town in the Philippines, Sariaya in Quezon province brings with it a unique but
familiar quiet charm. Nestled between the sea and the foothills of San Cristobal, the birth of this
town harks back to the late 1500s. Today, it is fusion of the old and the new with ancestral and
contemporary homes intermingling along its streets.
Three grand ancestral houses, in particular, literally embody the town’s rich historical
heritage, among which is the Gala-Rodriguez House along Rizal Street. On May 14, 2008, the
National Historical Institute (NHI) bestowed its historical marker on this two-storey mansion,
maintained and occupied to this day by a direct descendant of original owner Don Agapito de
Gala, the town’s gobernadorcillo from 1874 to 1876. But with the coming in of modern-day

progress, history is now under threat of facing permanent extinction—what with road-widening
projects looming on the side, to pave the way for more modernization.

This section presents the location and location map of the Municipality of Sariaya and the
Ada’s Garden Spa Hotel and Resort in Barangay Gibanga Sariaya, Quezon. It is located near
inside Purok 3 Brgy. Gibanga along the Pan-Philippine Highway, Sariaya, Philippines. It has an
approximately 2.7k form the Municipality of Sariaya.

The Municipality of Sariaya is bordered by Tayabas City on north-east side, the city
of Lucena on its southeast, the municipality of Candelaria on its west, and the town of San
Juan in Batangas on its south-west. Mount Banahaw flanks it on the north and Tayabas Bay on
the south side. It has a total land area of 24, 530 hectares and is composed of 43 barangays. The
urban area has an area of 63.73 hectares. With an urban population of 11,570 and a total
population of 134,163 as of 2009, the urban density is placed at 181 person per hectare while the
gross density is 5 persons per hectare.

Sariaya is a coastal municipality in the province of Quezon. The municipality has a land
area of 212.16 square kilometers or 81.92 square miles which constitutes 2.36% of Quezon's
total area. Sariaya has 43 barangays as shown in the following table. With more than a hundred
of cultural properties and ancestral houses mostly built in Art Deco architecture within the
municipality, Sariaya is considered as the Heritage Town of Quezon and the Art Deco Capital of
Southern Luzon.

C. POPULATION
Sariaya composed of 43 barangays. The Poblacion, which is divided into 6 barangays are
categorized as urban barangays while the rest are rural barangays. Based on the Philippine
Statistics Authority Census of 2015, Sariaya has a total population of 148, 980 or 29,796
households. The urban area or the “Poblacion” which consist of 6 barangays, had a total of 6.8%
of the municipal population while rural area with 37 barangays had 93.2% of the total
population.

D. Employment
The employment rate in the municipality was computed at 83%. The employment rate is
slightly higher for females (85 percent) compared with males (82 percent). Additionally,
there are also some overseas workers from the municipality of Sariaya. As of 2010, there are
at total of 1, 079 overseas workers that constitute for about 2.55% of the labor force.

Land Transport:
Bus Buses between Manila, Lucena, and Bicol stop at
Sariaya town proper. Some bus companies that
have routes passing through Candelaria are
DLTBCO, JAC Liner, JAM Liner, and Lucena
Lines. The buses have designated stops in Sariaya.
Jeepney’s Jeepneys provide short-distance transportation to
nearby towns. There are two Jeepney Terminal
Stations in Sariaya Quezon in the town of Sariaya
and Sambat Lutucan 1 go to Guis guis Port.
Tricycle Tricycles still serve as the primary mode of
transport within the area. Tricycle terminals blanket
much of the municipality, offering transportation to
any place in their designated routes. Many of these
tricycle terminals are found around key areas each

TOURIST ATTRACTION DESCRIPTION
Don Catalino Rodriguez Ancestral One of the three houses declared by the National
House or Villa Sariaya Historical Commission of the Philippines as Heritage
house in Sariaya, Quezon. It was owned by Don
Catalino Rodriguez, Sariaya’s town Presidente from
1908 to 1909.
Gala–Rodriguez house The two-storey house was declared by the National

Historical Institute of the Philippines as one of the
three heritage houses in Sariaya. The house was
designed by Dr. Juan Nakpil in the early 1930s and
was owned by one of the most distinguished couples
in Quezon Province.
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Sariaya Tourists may find antique relics on both sides of the
Church altar, which is believed to be miraculous. The chosen
patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, was believed to
appear and mingle among the locals. Sariaya Church
also has an accompanying museum displaying old
relics, vestments, restored photographs, and other
religious items.
Balai Sadyaya Balai Sadyaya is comfortable enough to

accommodate a few guest rooms built with
inspirations from 1930s Filipino casitas. The
refreshing pool in the middle is a perfect place to just
wallow on late afternoons while waiting for the sun

to set on the mystic Mt. Banahaw.
Natalio Marquez Mansion Its twin spires and castle-like exterior are unique and
attractive amid the hustle and bustle, and traffic of
the area. The most beautiful ancestral house in
Sariaya, Quezon situated beside the church of
Sariaya.

and physical therapist. The radiant heat process warms the body directly and not air. It operates
at a safer, more comfortable temperature of 110 to 140 degrees. They also offer Accommodation
especially Couple room, Family rooms, VIP type, and Dormitory Type. They also assist
Weddings, Birthdays, Baptismal, Other events and catering services here. They have a huge
space wherein the nature vibes will give you the warm feeling of having your events done here.

interview they never have zero guests who stays in their establishment. During Semana Santa
they are fully booked because of the Bisita Iglesia mostly people from out of town wanted a
relaxed stay and experience the red soil sauna.

Most of the tourist and travelers have an average overnight length of stay because of their
travel purposes like business, Leisure and Family Vacation.
