DESCRIPTION OF CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION ESTABLISHED IN

THE SCHOOL SUCH AS MEETINGS, FORUMS, CONSULTATIVE
CONFERENCES, SUMMITS AND PERFORMANCE REVIEW

 MEETINGS

Any team needs to have clear, actionable objectives in order to be

successful. Clear communication is an important part of every team. Staff

meetings are important because they can align school staff to find out how they

can best meet student needs. In addition, if a meeting is planned and executed

well, school staff will feel that they are being supported and heard. Staff meetings

help keep everyone informed and up to date. They let you collaborate as a team

by providing feedback, sharing ideas and asking questions. When staff is

included in discussions and decisions of certain issues, it will be good for morale

and motivation in the workplace.

On the other hand, PTA meeting is just one of the various activities

conducted by the Parent-Teacher Association of schools. The main role of

Parent-Teacher Associations is to build strong relationships between parents,

teachers, and the whole school community. Aside from getting insights about

your child’s performance, face-to-face meetings help build harmonious

relationships among co-parents and teachers. Teacher-parent conferences give

you an opportunity to increase communication between school and home, keep

parents informed about their child's progress, and develop a plan for the student's

future.
 FORUMS

Forums are powerful tool for discussions. These can help foster a

sense of community and encourage peer to peer interaction and improve

engagement. Forum can take the form of debate or reflective sharing, giving

everyone the opportunity to expand upon and clarify their understanding of

key ideas.

Forums can also be used in helping students to review learning

materials prior to an assignment or exam, engaging students in discussion of

course material before coming to class, and reflecting on material that they

have read or worked with outside of class.

 CONSULTATIVE CONFERENCES

In a consultative conference, the school principal provides technical

assistance and professional guidance. This can also be done for the purposes

of gaining information, or the act or process of formally discussing and

collaborating on something.

 PERFORMANCE REVIEW

A performance review is an assessment in which the school head

evaluates an employee’s work performance, identifies strengths and

weaknesses, offers feedback, and sets goals for future performance. This can

be conducted quarterly, monthly, or even weekly. Performance reviews can

help employees understand what they are doing well, how they can improve,

how their work aligns with goals, and what is expected of them. School heads

who use performance reviews effectively can more easily recognize high
performing employees, correct issues before they become insurmountable,

communicate expectations, encourage growth and development, and foster

employee engagement.
