“You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the

shore.” –Christopher Columbus

I am Fora Sanket Patel from India and I am aiming to pursue Bachelors in Information
Technology at University of South Australia. I was raised in a neutral and well educated
family. I am well prepared personally and academically.

Academics:-

I have completed my schooling at Central Board of Secondary Education and scored

94% in SSC exams in the year 2019. During my high school I was also keen in sports
especially volleyball and played for my school team for 2 years. After that, I took
diploma course in Information Technology from Gujarat Technological University and
got the degree with 9 cgpa. Since I can remember, technology was something that
intrigues me and I participated in many science and technical fairs in my school as well
as college. Not only that, once I also got first prize in science fest in second semester.
However, computers and how to operate them is in my best interest and I hope that by
accepting me at your university will help me to achieve my dreams. My technical skill
set includes programming in C,C++, java, html and python languages, also brief
knowledge about operating systems, web designing, and network systems.

As I am aware of English Proficiency language requirements for studying in

International Universities, I have started preparing for IELTS and appeared for exam on
27th of August 2022. My overall result in IELTS is 7 Band including 9 in Reading, 6.5 in
Listening, 6.5 in Speaking and 6 in Writing.

Why not in India?

Since, I am planning to study further in Information Technology and after taking a

diploma course in this field in my country, I realized that the availability of practical
knowledge is lagging behind in universities in India. Education in India depends mostly
on theory based knowledge. I am sure studying in India will give me theoretical
knowledge and I would not be able grip my hands on practical knowledge. The personal
and professional development of the students studying in India will be low compared to
students studying in other nations such as UK, US, Australia and so on.

I would rather choose to learn practically as it will help me to solve real problems in
technical world. Secondly, the lack of global recognition is also a major problem of
Indian universities. Degrees from Indian universities are not as much preferred or
valued as degrees from International universities. Another reason for not studying in
India is the restricted choices of subjects. Also, the competition is comparatively higher
than the number of seats available in the universities and courses available in India.
Apart from this, the job opportunities provided by Indian Universities are limited and
placement of job for graduated students is below average in Indian institutions.

Why study in Australia?

I chose Australia over other countries considering all the factors of studying in this
country. In my opinion, Australia is one of best countries providing high quality
education. It also ranked 3rd in terms of number of international students in the world. I
met few counselors and representatives of Australian universities who helped me to
choose Australia. Its education system is also globally recognized and has higher value
among other countries education. The universities provide a wide range of courses and
there are no prior entrance exams required unlike in the US which was a plus point for
me. The teaching methods contain both practical and theoretical knowledge which helps
students to develop their skills to a great extent. The major universities here welcome
international students, and provide programs and services that are tailored toward
helping study abroad students make the most out of their educational experience.

I think Australia is beneficial to me in terms of quality education, globally academic

recognition, and wide ranges of subjects and enjoyable and relaxed lifestyle. Australia is
well known for their blending daily routines with hard work and leisure activities. There
are plenty of parks, trails and some beaches for everyone to relaxed and enjoy the life.
Not only that, the diverse culture and students from everywhere around the world
comes here for studies which would help me to develop my social skills as well.

Australia provides guided learning to international students. Teachers at Australian

universities deliver lectures and small class tutorials. The courses in Australia consist of
essays, group work and individual assignments. In Australia, students are expected to
think independently and creatively, and gaining practical experience is always
encouraged. This is why Australia is the best country to study.

Why study in UniSA?

I did many researches to find appropriate university in Australia and decided that
University of South Australia (UniSA) is the best suitable university for me. UniSA is one
of Australia’s most modern and progressive education and research institutions.
Studying at UniSA doesn’t just earn students a degree but also gives opportunity to
explore a new culture, develop international networks and enjoy a quality educational
experience that will prepare a student for both professional and personal success.

UniSA was established in 1991 but through antecedent institutions, the University has a
150-year history of providing tertiary education in South Australia. University of South
Australia offers the most diverse educational menu in South Australia comprising
of more than 400 programs in a wide range of disciplines. In a number of fields UniSA is
the only South Australian University to teach professionally-recognized programs.

It provides real world problems solving methods with abundant facilities such as
research labs, development studios and student friendly environment. Thus, I chose
UniSA as the program is well structured and tuition fees in UniSA are affordable.

Students at the University of South Australia learn in modern campus facilities in

Adelaide - the third most livable city in the world.

Especially Mawson Lakes Campus is located near more than 100 high-technology
companies that make up Technology Park – an innovation hub in Adelaide. This
campus is home to aviation, education, engineering, and information technology
and data science.

UniSA was also ranked – 4 th according to CompareED (QILT) Student Survey

2019-20 - Skills Development Indicator (Undergraduate), Public universities only.

Why study Information Technology?

Since I can remember, I was always into computers and technologies. I had
experienced various transitions in technologies since my childhood and it is always
interesting to know more and more about modern technologies. My goal is to become
an expert in Information Technology and to be able establish other modern technologies
in the future. In today’s society, information is paramount and information technology
(IT) influences all kinds of human activity. I think I will be able to reach my goals by
studying in one of the well-known Universities that is UniSA.

Future Plans:-

After graduating from Australia I think I will be well equipped with knowledge, skills and
technical advancement needed to start a career in Information Technology. Thus, I plan
to move back to India to work for top Indian IT companies such as TATA consultancy
services, Infosys, HCL and many more to gain experience of Indian software market.
Indian is country with growing opportunities in the field of IT and thus I will have plenty
of rooms to grow.

I plan to utilize all the skills I learned from UniSA in my home country and contribute my
knowledge in the development of Indian software market. I also plan to volunteer myself
with some other universities and colleges in India and share with them the knowledge
and skills I learnt from Australia. I have a plan to start helping those students who want
to learn new ways of technology but can’t get enough knowledge from Indian institutes.

As I will graduate from International University, I can earn around 60,000 INR to 80,000
INR in India. And after gaining few years of work experience, I will start my own IT
Company and work hard to fulfill long term plan. I think UniSA will play a huge role in
my career and success.

Incentive to come back to India:-

Apart from career, there are other reasons for returning back to India. My family and
friends have many expectations on me and I want to make them proud of me. They had
sacrifice a lot for me and I do not want to disappoint them by choosing wrong career
path. Thus, after completing my studies in Australia, I will return back to India and live
with my family as it is my first priority. My parents have always supported me with
everything and it will be my responsibility to support them when they grow old.

My happiness lies with the happiness of my family who helped me to every aspect of my
life. I am sure I will miss my family for short time while studying in Australia but I will be
back to India after graduating and support them.
