Bram Stoker’s Dracula

A Neathtown Story for Sorcerer’s Cave

Conversion Kit
Cast
Mina Harker: a WOMAN (and later, a VAMPIRE – prepare both small cards.)
Jonathan Harker: a MAN, husband of Mina.
Professor Van Helsing: a SCHOLAR.
Lucy Westenra : a VAMPIRE.
Count Dracula: a VAMPIRE

Your starting (main) party is Van Helsing and Mina.

Recommended small deck size = 100

Setup
Setup the Neathtown Districts on Levels 2 and 3 as usual.

Place Van Helsing (carrying HOLY WATER) and Mina (carrying MAGICAL SHIELD) at the
Gateway. Place Jonathan in the Tavern in the Market District on Level 2.

Place the Castle Tileset on Level 3, anywhere at a minimum distance of 4 tiles from the Temple
District.

(If you do not have the Castle Tileset, then you can use a 4-way passage for the Approach, a 4-way
chamber for the Courtyard, and the Great Hall to represent the Keep. You can place tokens to
indicate that the Courtyard exits west & east are blocked, and that the Keep can only be entered
from the Courtyard.)
Place
Lucy and Dracula in the Castle Keep. The Count has 6 Thrall Familiars, Lucy has 2. (You can use
counters or a die to represent Thralls.)

As usual for story-driven scenarios, if you draw a tile that renders a critical area unreachable, then
shuffle it back into the deck and place a Mystic Portal tile.

On your first play-through, for extra story immersion, be sure not to read beyond the Chapter you
are currently playing…!

Story Objectives
Destroy Count Dracula, and:

 Medium Difficulty: Both Mina and Jonathan survive.

 Hard Difficulty: Van Helsing also survives.
 Extra Hard Difficulty: Lucy also survives.

Chapter One
Mina Harker’s friend Lucy Westenra has been kidnapped by Count Dracula, who has taken her to
his underground fortress. Jonathan, Mina and Professor Van Helsing set out to rescue her.

Van Helsing arms himself with Holy Water, and gives Mina garlands of garlic (Magic Shield) to
protect her. Jonathan has gone ahead to Neathtown. He has acquired a map showing the location of
Dracula’s Castle. He is looking to hire some help, and is waiting for you to join him at the Tavern
on level 2.

If you reach Neathtown Tavern, add Jonathan Harker to your party, and also draw two Mercenaries,
who can be hired if you want to/can afford it. Then proceed to Chapter 2.

Chapter Two
Mina is overjoyed to be reunited with her husband, but overnight, disaster strikes. A maid who
dislikes the smell of garlic removes it from the room and Mina is visited by Count Dracula. (Put
Magic Shield on the discard pile. Swap Mina’s card for a Vampire card.)

You must seek out and destroy Dracula in his castle. However, the journey may be hazardous. You
may not split your party, and if Mina fights she will gain Thralls, and eventually (at +5 to FS) she
will succumb to “blood frenzy”. If that happens, she becomes a hostile Master Vampire and cannot
be saved – you lose the game.

If you reach the Castle Approach, proceed to Chapter 3.

Chapter Three
Stealthily navigating the Castle Approach, you can make out a number of Guards patrolling the
Castle Courtyard. They are alert and hostile, and so cannot be surprise attacked. Draw small cards
until there are three opponents here. (Shuffle any other cards back into the deck).

Do not place defeated Guards on the discard pile – instead, set the cards aside.
When you have defeated all the Courtyard guards, approach the Keep and proceed to Chapter 4.

Chapter Four
In the Keep, Lucy and the Count have heard the commotion in the Courtyard, so they are alert and
hostile. (You cannot surprise attack, and you may not withdraw). Worse yet, the Guards you
believed dead are somehow returned and standing alongside their master. You must fight all five
opponents, or drop all heavy treasure and retreat via the Courtyard. Dracula is a Master Vampire –
magical effects including Eye-of-God and Lotus Dust only reduce his stats by 2. If you flee, then
Dracula, Mina and the Guards will not follow you.

Chapter Five
Once Dracula is destroyed, the revenant Guards immediately crumble to dust.

If Lucy was not also killed, then she stops fighting at the end of the current round. Later she can be
approached and is friendly. Lucy and Mina can be cured of vampirism, if you can find a way to rid
them of any Thralls they have acquired.
