Scan Tool Data

AENCR90A1114007
As the data values are standard values estimated on the basis of values obtained from the normally operating vehicles
by using a scan tool, use them as reference values. Even when the vehicle is in good condition, there may be cases
where the checked value does not fall within each specified data range. Therefore, judgment as abnormal should not
be made by checking with these data alone.
Also, conditions that can be checked by the scan tool are those detected by ECM and output from ECM as commands
and there may be cases where the engine or actuator is not operating (in the condition) as indicated by the scan tool.
Be sure to use the timing light to check the ignition timing. Refer to “Ignition Timing Inspection”: Petrol and Bi-Fuel
CNG in Section 1H in related manual.

NOTE
When checking the data with the engine running at idle or racing, be sure to place gear shift lever in
“Neutral” and pull the parking brake fully.

1. HO2S-1 3. O2S-2

System Description
ECM monitors oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas which has passed the TWC by O2S-2. When TWC is
functioning properly, the variation cycle of O2S-2 output voltage (oxygen concentration) is slower than that of HO2S-1
output signal because the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas is stored in TWC.

Repair Instructions
Idle Speed and ISC Duty Inspection Special tool
AENCR90A1116001 (A): SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT)
Before idle speed / ISC duty check, make sure of the
following.
• Lead wires and hoses of electronic fuel injection and
engine and emission control systems are connected
securely.
• Accelerator cable has some play, that is, it is not tight. (A)

• Ignition timing is within specification.

1
• All electrical systems (wipers, heater, lights, A/C, etc.)
are out of service.
• Air cleaner has been properly installed and is in good
condition.
• There are no abnormal air drawn in from air intake I9R90A120001-05
system. 2) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
• There are no obstruction in PCV valve or its hoses. 3) Check engine idle speed and “IAC Flow Duty” using
• There are no DTC in ECM. “Data List” mode on scan tool.
After confirming all items, check idle speed and ISC duty
Engine idle speed
as follows.
A/C OFF: 650 – 750 rpm (IAC Flow Duty: 5 – 40%)
NOTE A/C ON: 800 – 900 rpm (IAC Flow Duty: 10 – 50%)
Before starting engine, place gear shift lever 4) Check that specified engine idle speed is obtained
in “Neutral” and set parking brake and block with A/C turned ON if vehicle is equipped with A/C.
drive wheels. If not, check A/C system.

1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position and then

connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC (1).
