teacher's direction and expectations.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation: Students will be introduced to project using my eBook as an

example. By this time, we should have already been discussing and memorizing the
continents/ oceans and their locations. Students will be given a rubric describing what is
expected and the goals of the lesson and projects. Students will then be put in groups
(depending on how large the class is) and together they will pick a continent or ocean they
wish to do their project on. Students will be given instructions on how to create their own
eBook and will be given the opportunity to work on the project in class, using Mobil laptop
cart (if school has them) or computer lab. Upon completion of project, students will present
their eBooks to the class. After presenting to the class teacher will provide feedback and
grades, both individual and as a group to the students. Finally, the lesson will be concluded
with a short quiz over information provided by students presentations and a mini
continent/ ocean themed party.

Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? Co-use/Co-engagement, while working
together to complete their projects. Exploration activities to extend their learning about a
topic, such as looking up interesting facts or places found in or about their topic. time-on-
task, as students will be working on projects in class.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Students will be expressing their own ideas in the form
of an eBook presentation on their chosen topics. While also engaging other students in
their groups and those they present to. They will also be acting as they prepare and present
their presentations.

Reflecting on enhanced learning: I believe this lesson is a fun way for students to not only
learn and understand the content that has been presented to them over the past two
weeks but also allows them to have a voice and choice in their own learning. This lesson
allows students to be creative and create their own mini lesson to show other students
what they learned. I am looking forward to seeing how their projects turn out and what
information they bring to present their topics, because children always tend to find
interesting latest information that most adults would not think about.
