Dance Curriculum (2022-2023)

Grade: III-IV

Aim – To Broaden the perception of performing arts , understanding musicality from young age : Using Jazz
form as the basis for western dance, keeping in mind the interest of students using Korean Songs.

To keep the class interesting , developing and learning more effective– culture , language ,place will be
introduced to the students of the songs.

April- May

Student will work upon the basics Dance steps, as a long break from Covid has made their body and
understanding rigid.

Student will do a variety of combinations in counts of 8 in the centre

 Funk Jazz: The New Dance form of Funk Jazz will be introduced and a routine will be
taught in the same dance form on K-pop Music.
 History of Jazz : Origin and Founder
 Jazz Hand And Blade Hands
 Dance Routine on : Dynamite Song , Better When I am
 World dance day : Inter House Competition – Dance Routines taught for the stage
exposure

June

 Holiday Homework designed to develop interest in Performing Arts of the students.


 Ballet – Dance Musical Movie – Dance forms – Costumes
 Practicing Easy and Fun Dance routine at home.

July – Aug

 3 Jazz Basic steps : Snaps , overhead claps , overhead waves.


 Using those steps in a Dance routine – I Like to Move it
 Independence day : Dance Routine- taught with a feeling of patriotism
“Wavin’ Flag”, represents freedom, pride and strength. Freedom, here, to the
artist does not only
mean as a country but also freedom from the hardships he faced in life.

Sept - Oct

 Funk Hip Hop dance : 2 steps dance moves on counts of 4


 Dance Routine –The pop song “Who Says” by Selena Gomez, revealed several
uses of figurative language. The writer used repetition and metaphors to show
that the opinion of others should not affect your confidence.
 Folk Dance: ‘Rouf ’- Dance form of Kashmir will begin as the part of next module. Also
a small routine based upon that will take place.

Nov - Dec

Annual Day practice :

 Formation practice and dance with different props its help us for annual day preparations, Two Faced
Lines, Static Square, Circle, Facing Lines etc, Use different props -pom pom.
 Christmas Day : Theme based choreography will be taught to spread the joyness of Christmas

Jan

 Dances will be prepared with the feeling of patriotism on occasion of Republic Day.
 3 western Dance Forms and its origin
 AV Sessions for all the dance forms

Feb - Mar

 Acrobatic activities skills to be taught :


 Preparing them for the next session
 (warm up , cool down practices)
 Musicality
 Bridge, Cartwheel etc
 Recapitulation of all the session.
