FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING

INTRODUCTION:

Saint Anthony College in Roxas, City is a Christ-


centered institution. It provides students with
accommodated service. They do not only mold the
students' capacity, knowledge, and skills, but the
most important aspect of this school is the
development of the school to the characteristics of
its students' attitudes. This school produced
students who are capable and dedicated to their
future jobs.

1956-----1957 HOW IT’S STARTED?


 After recognizing the need for expanded health care
facilities in Roxas City and Capiz, Mr. and Mrs. Pio
Bernas founded St. Anthony College Hospital in June
1956. To get the project started, they enlisted the help
of Dr. Gaudencio Ortaez. After blessing the project, the
former Bishop of Capiz, the Most Reverend Antonio F.
Frondosa, D.D., approached the Daughters of Charity
of St. Vincent de Paul for assistance. Sr. Vicenta
Ayerbe, D.C. Eleuteria S. Ambulo, D.C. Alicia P.
Ongsuco Eleuteria S. Ambulo, D.C. in addition to Sr.

EDUCATIONAL UPGRADE
1958-----1959 The seven-door residence of the Bernas Family
was converted into a 50-bed health hospital. The school was
founded in 1958, with the hospital serving as its clinical laboratory.
In the same year, the School of Midwifery was established, and 27
successful midwives graduated in 1959. Milagros Dogelio - Lajo
received the highest score on the Midwifery Licensing
Examination.

1963------1966 The School of Nursing's three-year education


program was established in 1963. In 1966, 23 successful nurses
were produced.

1975-----1994 The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was


established in 1975, following the completion of the first group of BSN
Supplemental Program graduates, and superseded the three-year
Graduate in Nursing program. The name of the St. Anthony Hospital
School was changed to St. Anthony College of Roxas City, Inc. It is also the
time were The hospital was sold to the Daughters of Charity Congregation
of St. Vincent de Paul, establishing it as the affiliated training hospital
school. Because of the efforts of Sr. Anana Matalote D.C holds a Bachelor
of Arts degree with a major in Sociology was become course in the
school. The school then began offering physical therapy in 1994, but it
was discontinued after the third graduating class due to a lack of
participation. In May 1994, Barnard Deocampo, BSN Class of 1994,
finished sixth on the Nurse Licensure Exam. A year later, the Health Aide
Course began.
FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING
MILESTONE

1998-----2007
The Associate Programs in Food Technology and Respiratory
Therapy were first offered in 1998, but were later discontinued
due to a lack of participants or takers. Furthermore, in 2006, the
Health Aide Course was superseded by the TESDA Health Care
Services-NC II. In 2007, the traditional Nursing Arts Laboratory was
replaced by a new and simulated hospital nursing proficiency
center.

2008
In 2008, the SACR as a School and the Midwifery Program both
celebrated their Golden Jubilees.

2009---2013
The institution's pledges were renewed, and they were reinstated.
Mission and vision, preserving poor advocacy and Vincentian-Anthonian
values, and the 5 Cs This change is accompanied by the implementation
of the CMO No.14- BSN Curriculum. The institution was named a
PhilHealth Center of Excellence, and Judy Bargas of the BSN class of 2011
finished sixth in the NLE. The College of Nursing at the institution
celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the same year that the school began the
initial process for PAASCU Accreditation and prepared for the SENIOR
HIGHSCHOOL (GRADE 11 AND 12).

2020-2022 CONTEMPORARY

The school changed its system of learning due to


the risk of Covid-19 Pandemic. The educational
system turned into online using various platforms
and medium. In 2021, due to the needs of
students to have a face to face class for their RLE
the school applied successfully in CHED, a
compliance of having a limited face to face class.
And lastly, in this present year 2022 the school
updated their Senior High school Dept. and they
offer now HUMMS strand.
