ABOUT THE PIECE


– my idea with this piece is always in the framework of a concert programme, as a kind of "mobile
chorale" or o "live sound sculpture”
– the title of the piece refers to an emptiness or something that cannot be recalled

NOTES FOR INTERPRETATION


– please print on DINA5 or DINA6 and a lyre (or similar solution1) to play and walk at the same time.

SPACE
– the percussion will be in the center of the space, surrounded by the other instruments ca. 80 meters
apart (or, using the maximum possible space)
– the percussion may move freely in this inner space – for this version, using a pedal boat with the

– the other instruments will move in the perimeter of the space, approaching a common point towards
the end of the piece - for this version, the Waldsee pavilion

SOUNDS
– the percussion will have four instruments that may be played in arbitrary order
– the percussions will serve as a guide for the other instruments, as marked on each individual part
– however, this only applies to the attack of the percussions - in the moments of resonance, the other
instruments will be able to wander wherever they wish.
– when more than one instrument is played, each performer must decide which one to listen to.

RHYTHMS
– the percussion in its improvisation will be able to try different rhythms at will
– try different types of pulsativity until you find a sonority that suits your taste.
– the various rhythms will be partially or directly imitated by the other instruments in the form of an
echo.
– the distance between the musicians and the audience will allow a minimum of time lag, making it
possible to perceive the space and the threshold of auditory perception

– at least ten minutes
