AMESPORE® SINTERED METALLIC FILTERS:
CHARACTERISTICS AND ADVANTAGES

AmesPore® porous metallic filters and components are compacted, the desired porosity and the component geom-

sintering the resulting preform.
The preform may be created by gravity filling or by uniaxial The result of this process is a structurally functional metallic
or isostatic compaction, depending on the material to be part with a controlled microporosity level.

FLUID FILTRATION PRESSURE DROP

The porosity can retain the solid particles contained in The porosity reduces the pressure of the fluid passing
a liquid or gaseous fluid and can partially separate liq- through it—a phenomenon known as pressure drop
uid and solid phases, or gas phases of different molecular that is used to muffle the sound of gases under pres-
weights. This property is used to filter fluids with a wide sure (mufflers) or to protect hydraulic equipment and
range of characteristics. electronic devices.

FLOW CONTROL AERATION FLUIDIZATION

Thanks to the porosity, fluids passing through the porous When pressurized gas passes through the porosity, the
component have a constant outflow, especially if the flow outflow from the porous component is constant, con-
is generated by capillarity. This allows very precise control trolled and distributed with the same pressure at all
of the outflow of pressurized fluids. points. This feature makes it possible to gasify or aerate
liquids, provide a constant air flow, or handle solid pow-
ders through fluidization.

CONDENSATION TRAP FLAME SUPPRESSOR

The porosity is able to retain and condense moisture con- The presence of a porous component before a flame pre-

APPLICATIONS FOR
AMESPORE® SINTERED FILTERS

Applications
Chemicals: oil and gas industry, chemical industry, water
purification, nuclear installations, heat exchangers, ozona-
tion, chemical powder transport, catalyst recovery, general
drying, etc.

Food: gasification of liquids and spirits, evaporators, liq-

uefaction, transport of solid powders, packaging manufac-
ture, etc.
Industrial: pneumatic and hydraulic circuits (compensa-
tors, bleeders, regulators, mufflers), protection of sensors
and gauges, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, welding, in-
dustrial gases, etc.

Transport: automotive, marine, aviation, railways, etc.

Household appliances/home fittings: boilers, water heat-

ers, gas burners, printers, etc.

Other sectors: aquariums, underwater fishing, clinical

analysis, medical gases, protection of electronic equip-
ment, electronic cigarettes, sundry machinery, etc.

Recommendations for use

Keep AmesPore® filters and mufflers in their original pack-
aging until the time of assembly.

Protect AmesPore® filters and mufflers from impacts and

dirt during handling.

AmesPore® is a product designed for direct use. If it needs

to be machined, it is not recommended to machine the
functional surfaces: the pores close and the fluid flow de-
creases, so the filtering efficiency is reduced.

AmesPore® filters are manufactured in accordance with the

ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 quality standards.

AmesPore ® filters comply with the following European

directives:
-ELV (2000/53/EC)
-RoHS (2011/65/EU)
-Penta BDE and Octa BDE (2003/11/EC)

AMES can create specific solutions of shapes, materials and performance in which the porosity of the sintered product is tailored to the applications. Our
Technical Department will be pleased to help customers with this. Contact us at www.amespore.com.

AMESPORE® STAINLESS STEEL
FILTER DISCS AND RINGS

The material used to produce these filters is AISI 316L stain-

less steel. They are made by uniaxial compaction of powder
in a rigid tool with the negative shape of the part, and then
sintered. The pore size is adjusted by changing the compac-
tion pressure and/or the particle size of the powder.
Powder metallurgy technology is able to create other shapes,
such as blind cylinders and other special geometries. In these
cases it is necessary to build a specific tool according to the
required design.

BUSINESS EXCELLENCE, A PRESTIGE PRODUCT

AMES manufactures AmesPore® sintered metallic filters and

porous components at its specialized AMES Solsona plant,
Spain, which is certified according to the ISO 9001, ISO
14001 and IATF 16949 quality standards. The manufacturing
facilities are designed to achieve a quality product with low
minimum order quantities and rapid and reliable delivery.

The AMES Solsona factory has a Technical Department spe-

cialized in filters and porous sintered parts. The technology
used to manufacture AmesPore® filters allows for constant
product innovation to adapt to a changing and demanding
market and thus meet the needs of our customers. This de-
partment is fully equipped to determine important param-
eters such as filtering efficiency, pore size, permeability coef-
ficient, total porosity, dimensional characteristics and other
physical and chemical properties.

AMES is able to co-design filters and porous sintered parts

with its customers. This enables us to provide customized so-
lutions regarding the choice of material, the shape, the toler-
ance and the assembly method.
