Flood-Prone Area Assessment Using GIS-Based Multi-Criteria Analysis: A Case Study in

Davao Oriental, Philippines

Rainfall, slope, elevation, and other factors were combined in the analysis. Drainage
density, soil type, and distance to the main channel are all factors to consider. In comparison to
the WR and RW techniques, the AHP model produces a better outcome when computing
relative importance of indicators.
As a result, According to the AHP model, approximately 22.15 percent of Davao Oriental
is prone to flooding. These are in low-lying locations near the coast and rivers around the
province. Multi-criteria evaluation Allows the integration of several indications into two flood risk
assessment criteria: hazard and vulnerability. Flooding is a natural hazard that threatens both
people and property.the areas affected A geographic assessment can help to better understand
the occurrence of flood risk.
As a result, the primary goal of this study was to identify flood-prone locations and
categorize risk areas in order to generate data. A flood risk estimate based on a number of
variables A GIS-based flood risk assessment is used for this.In the province of Davao, research
was undertaken using the AHP, WR, and RW frameworks.Oriental, and it selects which model
provides the best outcome.
A successful strategy should include the following elements because each barangay
has its own physical and social characteristics, plans should be set up at the barangay
level.Immediate options, such as installing weather measurement instruments in at least one
station every county, are being considered.Particularly during extreme situations such as
drought, the municipality will provide us with precise weather predictions.Heavy rains, storms,
and typhoons are all possible outcomes. Because the federal government lacks clear flood-risk
mitigation policies,The local government, in collaboration with the office of disaster risk
reduction and mitigation, developed a strategy
.Every barangay can have a flood-risk education program designed by the management
council. Flood dangerAn education program is a campaign that teaches people how to behave
before, during, and after an event
A geographical assessment of flood risk using GIS Analytic hierarchy process (AHP),
weights by rank (WR), and ratio weighting were used.(RW) frameworks to establish the relative
value of each signal in the context of the others. This helps a lot for it provides clear and
informative data that helped a lot in the study.
