Literary Artist Contribution to Contemporary Arts


Ricardo De Ungria
 For his achievements in literature and writing,  R+A+D+I+O (1986)
he was awarded the Gawad Balagtas by the  Decimal Places (1991)
UMPIL in 1999 and the Patnubay ng Sining at  Voideville: Selected Poems, 1974–79
Kalinangan (Literature) by the City of Manila in (1991)
2007. He was also UP Artist 1 from 2009–11
 Nudes: Poems (1994)
and 2012 to the present time and the recipient
of seven National Book Awards.
 Body English (1996)
Antonio Reyes Enriquez
 Joined a surveying company in Cotabato
where his experience provided him  Surveyors of the Liuasan marsh
settings and characters for his novel  Subanons
Surveyors of the Liguasan Marsh. Antonio  Unseen
Enriquez won a writing fellowship award  Dance a white horse to sleep
which brought him to Siliman University  The night I cry and other stories
where he graduated with a liberal degree
in creative writing.
Jhoanna Lynn B. Cruz
 Who considers herself a Dabawenya, is a  Aguas de Viuda
Palanca award-winning writer that was  Women Loving
selected as first Philippine representative  Halakata, Ms. D!
for the Tokyo International Literacy  Women Loving: Stories and a Play.
Festival. She completed, with high  Abi Nako, or So I Thought
distinction, a Master of Fine Arts in
Creative Writing and a Master of Arts in
Language and Literature from De La Salle
University, Manila.
Lina Sagaral Reyes
 A journalist based in Mindanao,
Philippines. Her main abiding interest has  Honing Weapons
been in writing non-fiction on gender and  Lunhaw Book
development issues. Lina was in the  1987 and Storya
Occupied Palestine Territories to attend  Babaylan Women's Publishing Collective
the Young Women's Christian Association  Institute of Women's Studies
Conference in Jerusalem when she wrote
this article.
Danny Sillada
 A Filipino artist, writer and cultural critic
from Mindanao. Sillada has contributed to  The Tenderness of Dying, 2013
various art forms, from painting, to music  The Error of Human Existence, 2012
and performance art. He was a recipient of  Rodin's Le Penseur I, 2012
2003 "Pasidungog Centennial Awards" for  Damgo II, 2012
literary and visual arts, a centennial event  The Poetic Act of Giving, 2012
that was attended by the president of the
Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in his
hometown province in Davao Oriental.

VICTOR ACEDILLO, JR.
 A former Creative Director in Ace Saatchi
& Saatchi Advertising and has authored  “Toni” (Cinemalaya 2007 Best Screenplay)
numerous ad campaigns for clients like  Diamante Ng Langit” (Cinemalaya 2008)
Toyota, SMC, Ayala, Jollibee and P & G. He  “Kalawang Na Ginto” (CineManila 2008)
won three Best Screenplays in Cinemalaya.  SYNOPSIS of "LANDO AT BUGOY"
Now, he is an independent creative  “Batad: Sa Paang Palay”
professional based in Camiguin Island
where he also takes care of his aging
mother.
GEEJ WILLIAMS
 Was born in Davao City, Mindanao,  The Tracking Project
Philippines, and have been residing there  Flying Circus 2000
since I was born. I am a music and theatre  “Kaliwat,”
artist, and a cultural worker primarily, but  “Panaw”
do web and graphic design for a living. The  Salima in 2003
music and theatre industry in Mindanao
can barely sustain artists, thus many of us
have to do and be other things.
Agnes Locsin
 Locsin was Ballet Philippines’ artistic  Dabaw
director and chief choreographer who  Encantada
contributed a rich trove of neo-ethnic  Baylan
creations based on contemporary dance  Hinilawod
expressions that have since evolved into  La Revolucion Filipina
contemporary dance classics.
Joey Ayala
 The son of poets, the musician Joey Ayala  Panganay ng Umaga (1985)
of Davao City who uses the two-stringed  Magkabilaan (1987)
T’boli hegalong for his Bagong Lumad Band  Mga Awit ng Tanod-lupa (1991)
performances of pop music, is similar to an  Lumad sa Syudad (1992)
innovative awardee from Davao City  Lupa't Langit (1997)
Julienne Anne R. Ilagan
 Based in the City of Golden Friendship,
Cagayan de Oro, Northern Mindanao,  Soul Mates
Philippines. An award-winning short  The Barrel
filmmaker in the last Cinemagis Digital  Balot. Penoy. Asin.
Short Film Festival in Northern Mindanao,  Orpheus
“KAUYAGAN” is her first feature film. She  Sikad
was recently taken into the Talaandig tribe
as the adopted daughter of Datu
Makapukaw, and is set to be baptized as a
member of the tribe as Julienne
“Makabugwas” or Morning Star.
