PRECAUTIONS :-

BEFORE DIGING CHECK, LOCATE 7 MARK THE ELECTRIC, WATER GAS 7


OTHER SERVICES.

ALL EXCAVATIONS DEEPEER THAN 1.2 METS SHALL BE EITHER SHORED


OR THE SIDES MUST BE SLOPPED TO A SAFE ANGLE.

USE LADDER FOR ACCESS & EGRESS FROM EXCAVATIONS. DONOT


CLIMB ON THE SUPPORTS

PROVIDE BARREIERS AROUND EXCAVATIONS

KEEP SPOIL HEEPS, MATERAILS, TOOLS, AND VEHICLE 0.5 M AWAY


FROM EDGES OF EXCAVATION

WEAR HELMET ALL THE TIME

ENSURE STOPS BLOCKS ARE FITTED WHEN DUMPERS ARE TIPPING INTO
EXCAVATIONS AND THAT THEY AR GUIDED BY A SIGNALER.

CHECK EXCAVATION PRIOR TO ENTRY AT START OF SHIFT

DO NOT JUMP ACRROSS EXCAVATIONS, USE BRIDGE ACCESSWAYS


WITH GUARD RAIL

DO NOT ALTER OR REMOVE ANY SUPPORT MEMBERS UNLESS YOU ARE

Work At Height
PRECAUTIONS
• SKILLED AND AUTHORISED WORKERS SHOULD WORK AT HIGHER
ELEVATIONS.

• ALWAYS WORK ON APPROVED & CERTIFIED SCAFFOLD. ( GRREN


TAG )

• ACCESS LADDER MUST EXTEDN AT LEASE 1 METER ABOVE THE


STEPPING OF POINT AND MUST BE SECURED.

• ENSURE LADDERS ARE TIED NEAR THE TOP.

• DO NOT USE LADDERS WITH CRACKED OR BROKEN RUNGS OR


OTHER DEFECTS.

• ACCESS LADDERS MUST EXTEDM AT LEASE 1 METERS ABOVE


THESTEPPING OFF POINT & MUST BE SECURED.

• WHERE ACCESS LADDERS RISE ABOVE 9 METR & , A SAFE


INTERMEIDATE PLATEFORMS MUST BE PROIVED.

• REST LADDER AT MUST MUST BE RESTED AT THE CORRECT


ANGLE.

• DON’T WORK DURING ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS. E.G.


FOGGY CLIMATE, RAINY CONDITION, HEAVY WIND

• DO NOT KEEP LOOSE MATERIAL ON WORKING PLATFORM

• USE SAFETY HARNESS WHILE WORKING AT HEIGHT

• COVER ALL OPENINGS


• DO NOT REMOVE GRATING OPENING COVER BARRICATION
WHICH CAN CAUSE FALLING HAZARD

• DO NOT THRWO WELDING STUB FORM HEIGHT


• USE SMALL COLLECTOR

DO NOT BLOCK THE WALKWAY AT HIGHER ELEVATINO THIS COULD


LEAD TO TRIPPING HAZAERDS
USE FALL ARRESTOOR WHILE CLIMBING ON COLUMN ORT STRAIGHT
STRUCTURE

HANDTOOLS SUCH ASSPANNNERS, HAMMER SHOULD BE SECURED


WHILE WORKING AT HEIGHT/
SCAFFOLD
➢ Do not use scaffolding unless it is inspected and accepted for use.
➢ Do not remove or interfere with ties, guardrails, bracing, toe boards and
ladders.
➢ Report scaffold defects to a supervisor.
➢ Use scaffold tag viz “SAFE TO USE” or “UNSAFE TO USE” as the case may
be.
➢ Use the provided ladder access or stairs.
➢ Do not build make- shift platforms.
➢ Ensure that you the loading capacity of the scaffold you are working on and do
not exceed this under any circumstances.
➢ When stacking materials, always leave a passageway of at least two boards
wide for the other people to pass.
➢ Ensure that materials are stacked correctly and cannot fall, use brick guards or
netting where required.
➢ Do not leave tools or materials lying about on the platform.
➢ Always lock the wheels of the mobile scaffolding while in use.
➢ Do not move the scaffolding while persons are on it.
➢ Do not overload scaffolding platform by dumping/ storing materials.

REMEMBER : Where u cannot work safely from the ground or from part of the
building, it is better to use a suitable scaffold than a ladder.
