Course Description: Ethics deals with principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of the person, society, and in interaction with the
environment and other shared resources.

Morality pertains to the standards of right and wrong that an individual originally picks up from the community. The course
discusses the context and principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of individual, society, and in interaction with
the environment and other shared resources. The course also teaches students to make moral decisions by using dominant moral
frameworks and by applying a seven-step moral reasoning model to analyze and solve moral dilemmas.

Program Outcomes:

1. Differentiate between moral and non-moral problems.


2. Describe what a moral experience is as it happens in different levels of human experience.
3. Explain the influence of Filipino culture on the way students look at moral experiences and solve moral dilemmas.
4. Describe the elements of moral development and moral experience.
5. Use ethical frameworks or principles to analyze moral experiences.
6. Make sound ethical judgements based on principles, facts, and the stakeholders affected.
7. Develop sensitivity to the common good.
8. Understand and internalize the principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of the person, society, and in interaction with the environment
and other shared resources.

Level Outcomes:
At the end of the semester, the learners will demonstrate ethical awareness which will allow them to use specific capacities and skills to make moral
decisions.
Course Outcomes:
At the end of the course, you will be able to:

1. Describe what a moral experience is as it happens in different levels of human experience.


2. Develop sensitivity to the common good.
3. Understand and internalize the principles of ethical behavior in modern society at the level of the person, society, and in interaction with the environment
and other shared resources.

Introduction

This course guide for Ethics is designed to help students develop their abilities to read, explicate, analyze, and evaluate philosophical literature, write and
express themselves well about their own ethical positions, and think critically and analytically about ethical issues. This course guide is organized according to
three (3) main elements of the moral experience: (a) agent, including context – cultural, communal, and environmental; (b) the act, and (c) reason or framework
(for the act).

General Guidelines (House Rules):

This section tells you the general guidelines for completing this course guide. For specific guidelines and information, kindly review your student manual or
your module guide (if applicable).

1. The class code for Google Classroom specific for this course is to be given by your instructor during the class orientation.
2. Schedule properly your reading assignments and your activity accomplishments.
3. Make sure that you do things one at a time. Read the materials and watch the videos over and over until you are able to get the point of the lesson
4. You will be assessed through formative and summative methods. Kindly see requirements section at the end of this learning packet.
5. You are expected to submit your activities/ exams on the dates indicated in this learning packet. Late submission of activities/ exams will be dealt based
on classroom policies.
6. Your scores for assignments will be notified to you throughout your period of study.
7. You can learn a great deal from discussing aspects of your learning packet with others. Opinions and insights formed while discussing with other people
are no less valuable than those you form while reading books or listening to lectures. There’s nothing wrong in discussing with your classmates but it should be
done before you begin your individual activities. But when you sit down and do individual activities you are expected to work alone and not to use the work of
others (in its entirety or in part) as if it is your own.
8. The instructor checks your assignments against the work of other students and against internet sources and other published material. If you submit an
assignment that contains work that is not your own without proper referencing and claiming the work of other as your own, you are committing plagiarism.
Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty punishable by several guidelines (See student handbook).
