WHY I CHOOSE BIOGRAPHY


1. It’s because reading texts of Biography sometimes inspire us and give us moral lessons, how to reach something
and how to be succeed, and the process of being there itself is valuable.
2. Sometimes use biography text to be discussed in reading class make the students interest, usually I use popular
person that is now viral or my student favorite idol.
EXPERIENCE

1. In my experience, it will be a little difficult for the students to write the sentences (especially for kids who dislike
writing and have narrow background of English), but it is good practice for them at least to write something, not in a
long essay, but short ones. Even filling the simple outline is an achievement for them.
2. A good way to think about the main idea is that it is one sentence that expresses the kid’s opinion of the person. It is
what he/she wants everyone to know or think about that person. For example, our student might want everyone to
know that his grandfather was an honest, hard-working person who, in spite of many hardships, made a good life for
himself and his family.
What is a biography text?
It’s a detailed description of a person’s life. It involves more than
just the basic facts like education, work, relationships, and death;
it potrays a person’s experience of these life events. And may
include an analysis of the subject’s personality.
What is the
function?
1. To inform by retelling past events and
achievements in a persons life.
2. To educate the readers.
What is the characteristics?
1. Written by the third person, means the writer is not the person discussed in
the profile but someone else that knows the profile’s life.
2. The text is based on facts.
3. The text must be in a clear language to avoid mistakes in the information
presented.
BIOGRAPHY
Ciri kebahasaan:
* nouns dan pronouns sebagai kata ganti orang, hewan
atau benda yang terlibat, misalnya David, the monkey, we
dsb.
* action verbs atau kata kerja tindakan, misalnya go,
sleep, run dsb.
* past tense, misalnya We went to the zoo; She was
happy dsb.
* conjunctions dan time connectives yang mengurutkan
peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan, misalnya and, but,
then, after that, dsb.
* adverbs dan adverb phrases untuk mengungkap tempat,
waktu dan cara, misalnya yesterday, at my house, slowly
dsb.
* adjectives untuk menerangkan nouns, misalnya
beautiful, funny, dsb
