1.1 Purpose of Document
The main purpose of this documents to enable the TLS 1.2 in the browser while connecting to WADS / SFG from Voyager
application OR manually downloading files by Voyager agent.

1.3 TLS 1.2 Description

Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols that
provide communications security over a computer network. Websites can use TLS to secure all communications
between their servers and web browsers.
Transport Layer Security Protocol Schannel supports versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 of the Transport Layer Security
(TLS) protocol. This protocol is an industry standard designed to protect the privacy of information communicated
over the Internet. TLS assumes that a connection-oriented transport, typically TCP, is in use.

1.4 TLS 1.2 Scope to browser and Windows Operating Systems

TLS 1.2 option must be enabled in the browser that being used for downloading the AC/ST/AD files from WADS or
SFG website to adhere the security compliance for a safer communication between client and server.

Tables of Windows Operating System compatible and non-compatible with TLS 1.2.

1.6 Enable TLS 1.2 in Browser

1.6.1 Chrome Browser

i. Open Google Chrome.

ii. Click Alt +F and select Settings.

iii. Right click on the dot as marked in the below screenshot of Chrome Browser as
marked in the screenshot: Customize and Control Google Chrome

iv. Click on the Settings Menu

iv. Click on the Settings→ Advanced→ System

 v. Scroll down and select Show advanced settings as bellow

vi. Scroll down to the Network section and click on Change proxy settings.

vii. Select the Advanced tab.

viii. Scroll down to Security category all the way to bottom, manually check the option box for Use
Use TLS 1.2.

ix. Click OK. Close the browser and open in new window.
Please enter the below URL and verify that you can login and download the files after changes depend on your local
configuration.

Note: Currently the following browsers support TLS 1.1 and 1.2:
1. Chrome - v30 supports TLS 1.2.
2. Firefox - v27 enables TLS 1.1 and 1.2 by default.
3. Internet Explorer - v11 supports TLS 1.2 from Feb 2013.
4. Opera - v17 has added support for TLS 1.2.
5. Safari - v5 on iOS and v7 on OS X have added support for up to TLS 1.2.

 1.6.2 Internet Explorer 11

a) Open the Internet Browser and check the Version by clicking on the Tools (Alt+X) icon as below.

b) Click on the “About Internet Explorer” to validate the Version.

 I. Open Internet Options
a) Open the Tools (Alt+X) and Select “Internet Options” menu.

b) Go to the Advanced tab.

 c) In the Settings pane, scroll to the bottom and enable “Use TLS 1.2"

d) Restart Internet Explore

 1.7 TLS 1.2 configuration in Window 7 for WADS/SFG compatible

1.7.1 Impact of TLS 1.2 on Window 7 and Window 2008/R2 Server

Voyager application unable to download AC/ST/AD files through SEMI-Automatic and Automatic services in
Window7 and Win 2008 server machines when TLS 1.2 enabled.

1.7.2 Impacted agents

Agents: Agents which are using Window 7, Window 2008/R2 Server OS and accessing WADS/SFG
system from Voyager 2.2/2.3 application from process screen.
Note: SFG is referring specific for the VIGO agents belongs to Belize, Ghana and Mexico who are accessing SFG instead
of WADS system.

1.7.3 Steps to Update Window 7:

1.7.3.1.1 Method1 : Windows Update

This update is provided as a Recommended update on Windows Update. For more information about how to
run Windows Update, see How to get an update through Windows Update.

1.7.3.1.2 Method 2: Microsoft Update Catalog

To get the stand-alone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

1.7.4 Windows Pre-requisite Update detail information
1.7.4.1.1 Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
There's no prerequisite to apply this update in Windows Server 2012.

Registry information

To apply this update, the DefaultSecureProtocols registry subkey must be added.

Note : To do this, you can add the registry subkey manually or install the "Easy fix" to populate the
registry subkey.

1.7.5 Installation of Patch in Window 7/Window 2008/ Window 2008 R2 (32/64-bit):

Installation Method: Steps to install the VoyAll_TLS_1_2_CompatiblePatch.exe.

Note: Must have admin permission to run the Patch.

Step: 1 Copy the Patch in C:\WU path where you must have enough permission to execute the patch.

Step 2: Right Click on the Patch and select→ Run as Administrator

Step 3: Please click the “Ok”.

Step 4: Click on the “Close “ Button.

Step 5: Validation of the Registry
Please validate the value if you have access to the registry path to make sure, the Default Secure Protocols is created and
having the value 800 as shown below in the screenshot.

Restart the System and make sure Voyager can connect to WADS /SFG website from the Voyager
application.
Note: The registry path of Windows 7/Windows 2008 Server/Windows Server 2008 R2 for
32-bit and 64 -bit system is different with each other.
