Industrial Fire Safety Awareness

Course objective

This course provides Saudi Aramco employees who work in an industrial setting with information
and instruction to make them aware of the importance of basic fire prevention and how to make
their workplace and home fire-safe. It also provides them with instruction on the use of portable and
wheeled fire extinguishers and involves live-fire drills using fire hose and fixed fire monitors.

Course outline

Part 1: Fire Prevention

- General fire prevention guidelines

- Basic refreshment about fire science
- Fire extinguishing techniques
- Types of fire extinguisher
- Proper selection and use of fire extinguishers
- Operation of wheeled FE
- inspection and care of FE
- Importance of uninterrupted water supply during g fire operation
- sources of water supplies
- standard pipes operation
- Fire hydrant operation
- Master stream operation

After completing this part, the staff must have the basic knowledge about fire prevention and how
to safely respond to Incipient or minor fires

Part 2: Extinguishing class B Incipient fire

- Transport fire etinguisher

- -Use and attack incipient live fire by ABC dry chemical FE
- Advancing fire hose from hose-reel cabinet
- Advancing and attacking fire with 1.5 fire hose
- Operating the master stream device
- Operating fire hydrant and connection of fire hoses
- Operating wheeled fire extinguisher
- Attack Incipient class A or class B fire by fire extinguishers
- Operate the fire blanket on live kitchen fire

After completing this part the staff must be able to safely use fire extinguishers and attack Incipient
fires

Assessment

In order to pass the course each participant must:

- Use hand-held fire extinguisher on live fire

- Operate Master Stream (fix monitor)

Overall result
