A. Introduction The perimeter is the distance around an object. To determine the perimeter of
Panimula any plane figure you can add the length of all sides together.

To visualize the perimeter of any plane figure, let’s take the rectangle below as
our example.
Let’s count how many lines are there in each
side. There are total of14 lines, so we can say
that this rectangle has a perimeter of about
14 units.

To measure and solves the perimeter of any plane figure, we need to use
measuring tools such as ruler or meter stick.

Using a ruler, we’re going to

Day 1 4 4 measure each side of this triangle,
we found out that each side is 4 cm.
3 long. We are now going to solve for
3 the perimeter of this triangle using
this formula:
Perimeter = side + side +
2 2 side

P=s+s+s
1 1 P = 4 cm + 4 cm + 4 cm
P = 12 cm

Day 3

5.

D. Assimilation Perimeter is the total length around the object.

Paglalapat So, imagine the grid lines are equal to one step.
And imagine the outside edges of the figure are
tight ropes. You want to see how many steps it will
take you to get all the way around the edge. The
number of steps would be the perimeter.

The word perimeter has been derived from the Greek word ‘peri’
meaning around, and ‘metron’ which means measure.

How to find perimeter?

We use a ruler to measure length of the sides of a small regular shape.
The perimeter is determined by adding the lengths of the sides/edges of the
shape.
For small irregular shapes, we can use a string of thread and place it
Day 4
exactly along the boundary of the shape, once. The total length of the string
used along the boundary is the perimeter of the shape.

The perimeter of all polygons can be determined by adding the lengths of

their sides/edges. To find the perimeter of any plane figure we can also use
this formula.
8m Perimeter of square
P=s+s+s+s or P = s x 4
P = 8 m + 8 m + 8 m + 8 m or P = 8 m x 4
8m 8m P = 32 m or P = 32 m
