Merrill Lynch

Founded in 1914 in Wall Street, by bond investor Charles E. Merrill, Merrill Lynch is one of the biggest
wealth management businesses in the world. It underwent numerous name changes and acquisitions
over time, before becoming fully owned by the Bank of America (private bank) between late 2008 and
early 2009, as part of its wealth & investment management division. This agreement turned out to be
within days of the firm’s collapse, rescuing it from bankruptcy, after the subprime mortgage crisis in
2008.

Merrill Lynch is the financial management and investing arm of the Bank of America. It provides a range
of financial planning, advising, and brokerage services, related to any subject from retirement savings to
investment. It serves as a dealer in sales and purchases of corporate securities and as a broker for
individual clients, corporations, and governments worldwide.

It can offer services under prosperity management strategies, such as investment management,
investment advisory, insurance, risk management, etc.

Being part of the Bank of America allows the company to give clients access to financial advisors and
their range of banking services.
