Aerosol in Occupied Areas April 2018
Aerosol in Occupied Areas April 2018
Dear Sir(s),
According to the latest developed and published Standards such as NFPA2010 and
ISO 15779, it is mentioned that aerosol agents satisfactory evaluated according to
their potential adverse health effect can be used in normally occupied spaces.
In the NFPA 2010 it is clearly indicated that determination for use of an agent in
spaces that are normally occupied or normally unoccupied shall include a thorough
evaluation of the potential adverse health effect(s) of the agent.
Regarding the Potential Adverse Health Effect, FirePro has been assessed by KEMA
(Netherland accredited Institute, part of DNV) and a full Report has been issued,
which refer to all the chemical substances present in the aerosol agent, before and
after discharge, and confirms that no expected adverse health effect is present.(refer to
the attached KEMA full report).
The test protocol used is the EPA Health Effects Test Guidelines OPPTS 870.1300,
Acute Inhalation Toxicity.
As summarized in the extract of the Report: “Under the test conditions there are no
reservations in toxicological and fire-hygienic regard about the use of the Aerosol fire
extinguishing generators supplied by FirePro Systems Ltd., Limassol”.
EPA has completed its final assessment on FirePro one month ago and has determined
that FirePro aerosol is acceptable for its use in normally occupied spaces. The final
notice or rule is in process in the Federal Register and it is expected shortly.
As a result of the above issues FirePro is in full compliance with the health and safety
requirements of all the Standards and can be used in occupied areas.
