Summary
Modifications in wheelchair design and biomechanics could
play a crucial role in promoting physical activity, QOL and level
of participation among physically disabled individuals. Further
research is necessary on cost effectiveness of advanced design
features, interventions to prevent overuse injuries and
strategies to address the secondary complications of a
sedentary lifestyle
