1. A cylinder is cast from a rectangular piece of alloy 3 cm by 5 cm by 10 cm. If the length of


the cylinder is to be 50 cm, find its diameter.
2. Find the volume of the largest right circular cylinder that can be circumscribed about a
rectangular parallelepiped of dimensions 2 ft. by 3 ft. by 4 ft.
3. A metallic tube has an outside diameter of 8 cm and an inside diameter of 6 cm. If the total
length is 4 m, what is the volume of metal needed to make the tube?
4. The height of a closed cylindrical tank is 2 times the diameter. If the total surface area of the
tank is 20.10 m2, find the diameter and the volume of the tank.
5. A concrete block 70 cm x 80 cm is placed inside a tall cylindrical tank 1.5 m in diameter
containing 1.8 m deep of water. What is the rise in water level?
6. A 6 m long steel pipe has an outside diameter of 12 cm and an inside diameter of 10 cm.
Find the volume of steel in the pipe.
