1. Define International Studies and International Relations.

A: International studies mainly focus on the social and cultural facets of a country. On the
other hand, International Relations center around the law, political, and economic relations
among states and non-state actors and how they interact in the global arena. Both of these
offer an interpretation of how countries interact with each other.

2. Discuss briefly the importance of studying International Relations.

-A; One, it helps us to know how to preserve and maintain the security of our country by
learning about international laws with regard to territory. Second, studying international
relations ignites discussion on how to enhance the global economy by boosting economic
and trade policies between nations. Third, international relations emphasize resolving global
issues such as pollution, war, famine, and lack of education. Lastly, it enhances global
communication as we traverse through closer relations between nations.

3. Who are the actors of international relations and explain each of them.

A: States, is one of the actors of international relations. It is an organized political community


that protects and represents the population in the global arena. It should also have a fixed
territory, population, government, and sovereignty to be called a state. Another actor is
International Government Organizations. It is composed of more than two member-states
around the world and functions as a platform for forums and discussions on resolving and
achieving global goals and strengthening relations between its members (ex. United Nations,
European Union, ASEAN). Lastly, International Non-Government Organizations. Its
members are of the private sector that acts on a variety of global issues, it tackles issues
from the environment (Greenpeace), Health (Red Cross), and Human rights issues
(Amnesty International).
