Introduction & Academic Background

I, Janmeja Singh, an Indian citizen with a passport numbered R7900643, wish to apply to study
for an International Year One leading to Business and Management BA based at University of
Leicester, United Kingdom. My date of birth is 02 December 2001. I am writing this letter to
elaborate on my intentions to pursue this program. In 2018, I successfully completed my
matriculation under the Central Board of Secondary Education. I have completed my senior
secondary schooling from the same board in 2020. After that, I started preparing for the IELTS
and I appeared in the exam in October 2021 and achieved 6.5 band score overall. After getting
my IELTS result, I research about the various nations to study at an eventually choose the United
Kingdom for my higher education.

Why did I choose to study in the United Kingdom?

The UK and its universities have an undisputed reputation for academic excellence and quality
with thousands of courses available for students, as well as being an ideal destination for many
decades for over a million international students from all over the world. There are a variety of
reasons why I considered studying in the UK. Besides the guaranteed academic excellence in the
UK, I will gain a lot of value from this one-of-a-kind experience due to the high standards of life
and global exposure. UK’s academic qualifications are recognized universally and respected, no
matter where I end up being employed. The education will provide me with a solid foundation
and boost my potential for having a higher salary and finding exactly the job I want. Every

help their students push themselves to the extreme. Their standards are incredibly high, and year
after year, the universities are tested for how well they are meeting modern challenges. The
higher education system in the UK has been the basis for higher education standards in other
countries for years. UK is one of the safest countries with good standards of living, which
encourage people of different culture and traditions. UK offers significantly lower and cost
effective annual tuition fee for many popular courses at universities and institutions.

Why did I choose the University of Leicester?

The University of Leicester was recently ranked as the top University in the East Midlands of

their students and will support my development throughout my time here. Ranking wise, the
university enjoys a national ranking of 30 by the Guardian and 37 by the times which was highly
impressive. Hence, due to these reasons, I chose to study at the University of Leicester.

I am sure with practical and theoretical knowledge on my hands and education experience in it; I
can reach my career goals. As a vast, dynamic and growing industry, this Degree provides
tremendous opportunity for ambitious students. By covering the bases of topics such as
economics, marketing and statistics, the International Year One will prepare me for the necessary
knowledge and skills to progress to the second year of my degree. English language support is
provided to improve my speaking, writing and academic skills to an appropriate level for me to
join the second year. This program aims to provide me a great introduction to my future career.
Additionally, the available progression degree incorporates Business Experience within its
standard three years of study. This means I can gain early experience in the industry of my
choice, increasing my employability and helping you to successfully transition into my career.
On successful completion of this course, I will be guaranteed entry to an under graduate Business
& Management program at the University of Leicester which will be an excellent stepping stone
for my to attain a specialized business degree for jobs in areas of marketing, management,
finance, banking, IT etc.

Future Goals

After my undergraduate program in Business and Management, I would like to leverage my

academic proficiencies and pedagogic training to work in a well reputed MNC in India to gain
experience. India is a growing economy where commerce and private businesses have always
been the flag bearers of the economy. Both big and small companies require business
professionals to remain relevant in competitive times. The country is home to 105 Unicorns with
a value of $338 billion. There are many startups coming up in India as well big multinational
companies. Over the years, and especially since the privatisation in 1991, the government is
constantly engaging in Public-Private Partnerships as this is the most appropriate mode of
employment generation. As per my research, I can work as a Business Manager, Business
Associate, HR Executive, Sales and Marketing Manager, Advertising Head etc at organizations
such as Amazon, KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, EY, MSL, ICICI Bank etc. As a start, I will be earning
approximately INR 7-8 Lacs annually and this is going to increase substantially with experience.
Eventually, after gaining enough experience and expertise, I wish to establish my own venture in
my home country, India. I’m certain that the management training and facilitation I will receive
from the course would endow me with the required drive and impetus to make my
entrepreneurial intent successful.
Conclusion
As a student intending to pursue my under graduation in the UK, I am completely aware of the
financial obligations that I need to fulfill during the course of my studies. In order to ensure that
all expenses such as tuition fees, accommodation and living, travel and all other expenses are
secured and managed, my family will be sponsoring me. Moreover all the required documents to
testify my financial wherewithal have been attached herewith for your scrutiny. Thus, I hope my
application is favorably reviewed and I am accorded with an opportunity to study for my
intended program at the University of Leicester.
I declare that I will value UK ethics and abide by rules and regulations as an international
student and abide by all the conditions imposed on a student visa holder. All the above
particulars given are true and correct in every detail. My only motive is to study in UK and
enhance my career graph. Once I complete my course, I would return back to India to start my
career there as I have responsibilities towards my family.
