Life Cycle of a Fern

Fern has two life stages which are

haploid and deiploid. It goes
through a two generations to
complete the cycle which is called
the alternative generation. Fern
came from a single spore where
the spores become gametophytes
that produces male gametes and
an egg structure. When it is
fertilized, the gametophyte
generates a sporophyte which is
the fern plant.
What is the dominant stage of the fern life cycle?
What is the relationship of fern gametophyte
and sporophyte?

The dominant stage of the fern is the

sporophyte. The life cycle of a fern has 2 stages
or generations which are gametophyte and
sporophyte. Gametophyte has a dominant
haploid stage in the life cycle and is usually
associated with mycorrhizal fungi. While
sporophyte is entirely dependent on
gametophyte and is an unbranched diploid stage
in the life cycle of the Bryophytes.
