Units, Basic Rules, Choosing Map Scale, & Coordinate Systems
1. The next figure shows the layout of one of the Parcel AB=4254.73 m, BC=2803.44 m, CD=4100.62
m, DA=XX m, and Angle BCD =90º.
- Find the area of the parcel in m2
D
C
XX=Last six digits from your AUC- ID divided by 100 (e.g., ID 900172567 XX=1725.67)
- Find area in Feddan, Kirate , and Sahm. (1 Feddan=4200.83 m2, 1 feddan = 24 kirate, 1
kirate= 24 sahm)
- If BC is oriented towards north direction. Find maximum length & width of the surveyed area
to be used for producing map:
- Find the suitable surveying map scale to produce map using A0(120cm x 84cm) paper with plot
area 100 cm x 80 cm.
- Using the above paper size, find the number of maps required to cover the parcel with scale
1:1000.
- Find the accuracy of the same area and same map if map is reduced to half and if map is enlarged
twice.
2. If angle A in grade system is XX⁰ 24′ 54″ Convert this angle to grade system.
XX=Last two digits from your AUC- ID (e.g., ID 900172567 XX=67)
4. If coordinates of points are A( XX⁰ 32′ 12″ W , 23⁰ 12′ 35″ N) and B( XX⁰ 18′ 19″ E , 23⁰ 36′ 22″
N) referenced to WGS84 find the corresponding UTM zones.
XX=Last two digits from your AUC- ID (e.g., ID 900172567 XX=67)
