Greetings!! Before we start our lesson for today let us review what we discuss last meeting. By
answering the question below make sure that you understand our topic . (2 mins)

- Give the meaning of opportunity, challenges and power in media and information. Use the

OPPORTUNITY
a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. Examples are job
hiring, freedom of expression, informing and keeping the mass up to date, inspire,
and empower citizens.

CHALLENGES
are something new and difficult which requires great effort and determination.

POWER
the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others
or the course of events. Here are some examples of power in media: influence,
distribution of information, and avail names.

Developmental Activity: On your own understanding what is the meaning of advertisement and how can
help advertising in business. Write your answer on the box provided.
The meaning of advertisement is an announcement online, or in a newspaper, on television,
or on a poster about something such as a product, event, or job. It can help advertising in
business because it is the most direct and important connection to the consumer. When
consumers feel personally connected to an advertisement they are more likely to frequent
your business.

Guided Practice
Give the Packard's Eight Hidden Needs in Advertisement. Write your answer on the box
provided.
1. Emotional security. An individual has a need to feel safe.
2. Reassurance of worth. An individual has an inner need to always feel
important.
3. Ego-gratification. An individual has a need to be praised.
4. Creative outlets. An individual needs an outlet to express creativity.
5. Love objects. An individual has a need for things that allow him/her to show
affection.
6. Sense of power. An individual has an inherent need for power which has been
exploited by merchandisers.
7. Sense of roots. This refers to the individual’s need to connect to one’s
identity.
8. Immortality. An individual has a need to defy death.activities.

ADVERTISEMENT

Print Print Advertisement Print advertisements, such as those in


magazines and newspapers, aim for a
massive audience. For a smaller
audience, brochures, fliers and coupons
are used. Other print ads include
outdoor advertisements such as
billboards and transit ads.

Video Video Advertisement Video advertisements are commonly


aired in major networks. The creative
process for a video ad, such as
television ads, is rigorous. It passes
through several meetings, client
conferences, brainstorming and
pre-production preparations. It is the
advertiser's job to compress all
important details in a short video,
which usually lasts for a minute or
less.

Radio Radio Advertisement

Radio remains a good venue for


advertisement. It is cheaper than
television and still enjoys a very loyal
following. Unlike print, radio is
capable of conveying emotions.

Web Web Advertisement Technology triggered a rapid


migration of people to the
Internet. Social media had
become a preferred venue for
advertisements even for big
companies. Social media provide
an edge in advertising because
of the large number of users
worldwide.
Facebook offers photo ads, video ads,
and slideshows. It also offers lead,
dynamic , and link adverts, all designed
to make sure consumers are engaged
with the products they previously
bought, used, or are interested in.
Small businesses can also create their
Facebook pages for free. Twitter offers
"Promoted Tweets," "Promoted
Accounts," and "Promoted Trends."
