WEEK 2: FINAL PROJECT MILESTONE 2

1. Write a 1-page paper describing the art form you have selected for the Final
Project. Explain why you selected it.

The art form I selected for the project is painting by well-known artist. It is Three-
dimensional and he used impressionism. His paintings are clear depiction of forms and
linear perspective, established art of the time, with bold color, and conventional
compositions. The emphasis in his pictures shifted from representing figures to
depicting different qualities of light and atmosphere in each scene. He even applied
paint to smaller strokes, building it up in broad fields of color. The effects that he
achieved represent remarkable advance towards abstraction and focused on surface
effects. I selected this form of art because It shows realistic colors of the nature like
foliage of the trees, leaves with delicate shadows and details added to show natural
light in the scene. His work is mostly oil on canvas. I like the way he creates sense of
reality in all his paintings.

2. Within that art form, identify a specific work of art that you plan to investigate and
explore for this project. Write a 1-page paper explaining why you selected that
specific work of art.

Claude Monet's, Impression, Sunrise is my specific work of art I plan to investigate and
explore for this project. This work was painted from a hotel window at Le Havre in 1873.
This picture is probably the famous picture in the event. His main idea in creating this
painting was just not to create landscape but also to create impressions on the viewers
while looking at the landscape. I selected this specific art because it includes a texture,
shape and color, value and line. It has sense of beauty to explore nature and go with
strong emotions. The color contrast brings a new life to the painting. It creates a sense of
impression forever. The painting is so natural and reflected sunlight on the water.

3. List specific Walden Library resources you use.
