TION CLASS CONFIGURATION ITEM   9/15]

Application  Class Configuuration Item Status: 
The Stattus is updated as yoou progress the CI record through thee lifecycle.  The 
value in the Status field deenotes the stage off the CI record. 
 
 Build—— CI is physically in  the possession off team that will deploy it. 
   Operational — CI is in servrvice 
 Retiredd — CI has reached  the end of the lifeecycle and is taken out of service.  
 
Note::  As the Applicattion CI record progresses through the lifecycle 
dditional fields maay be required on
ad n the Application CI form. 
Record TType – Main/Moddule/Alias 
The Recoord Type is used tto define the App plication CI as a M
Main 
application, or a Module of the Main appllication or as an A Alias of either 
a Main oor Module applicaation.  

 
When M Module is selecte d as the Record TType, the Parent Application 
field is rrequired.  When tthe Application C
CI is saved, a Relaationship will 
automaatically be establisshed between the Module and Main 
applicattion. 

 
  An Aliass can be establishhed from either the Main or Modu ule Application 
CI by selecting the relateed Aliases tab at the bottom of th
he form.   
Create an Application Classs Configuration Item Record: 

Step 1.. From the Service eNow left navigatio on menu, go to the   

Configuration ap pplication, Service and Application La ayer and  Click thee New button annd complete the A Application CI forrm for the 
select Applicatio ons.  Alias.  W
When the Record  type is set to Alias, the Alias Pareent field is 
Step 2.. On the right side e of the screen, a lisst of existing Appliccation  required d. When the recoord is saved, return to the Parent record to see 
Configuration Ite ems (CIs) will be dissplayed.  At the top p of the page,  the Alias in a list at the bbottom of the reccord. 
click the New button to create a ne ew Application CI.
Step 3.. Enter values in th he red highlighted fields (required) an nd click Save. 
 
Note: Thee Class field is set to
o Applications.  Thhe Status field defaults to Build. 
 Wheen you update the SStatus field additional fields may be rrequired.
