What our solar schools say about working with us

Solar for Schools supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Hollybush Primary School
276 kWp – 07/21 "What has been achieved during the installation has been amazing.
It has been a fantastic experience to see the teams working during
extreme weather conditions to deliver a solar panel system in such a
short time. The installation team have worked very efficiently during
the day whilst the school has been functioning and they have ensure
that our needs as a school have been met.
The feedback from parents as the work progressed has been great.
It is hard to believe how much has been achieved in such a short
period of time, in such a well organised and professional manner.“
Rana Singh
Site Manager

"The support we have had from Leeds City Council and Solar for
Schools has been superb. Communication has been really good, and
we have been kept informed at all the stages of the programme. The
installation during term time was a slight concern but with constant
effective communication, it was worked really well. The installation
team have been amazing. We have enjoyed being on the journey
with you and look forward to continuing the journey in September
with learning in the classroom.“
Bridgitte Causer
Business Manager

2
Otley All Saints CofE
60 kWp – 03/20 Primary School

”After many years of trying unsuccessfully to have solar panels

installed at school, I am delighted that this partnership between
Otley 2030 and Solar for Schools has finally made the project a
reality. As a school that has, for many years, done such a lot to raise
awareness of our duty to the environment and the wider world, we
see this as an important step in making our school much more
energy efficient, and in educating our children on the impact
sustainable energy can make.”
Ian Thompson-Smith
Headteacher

Shenley Brook End School
271 kWp – 11/19

"Rob (one of SfS educators) was truly brilliant. Well informed,

approachable, and inspiring. I'm so pleased there will be recurring
events. I'm delighted we found you.“
Jason West
Assistant Team Lead for Science

4
Foxfield School
275 kWp – 06/19 "At Foxfield School we were keen to look at how we could save
money on our utility bills and also reduce our carbon footprint. We
became aware of Solar for Schools through the Energy Team in our
Local Authority, and this started our journey towards installing
substantial solar electricity generation equipment on our building.
Throughout our involvement with Solar for Schools, from the initial
discussions through to the planning and installation, I have found
working with their team a positive experience. We held a number of
meetings with people from their team and our senior staff and
Governors to discuss this and every question we asked was
answered clearly and honestly. When we requested additional
information, this was provided promptly.
Entering into a long-term contract and relationship with a new
company can be daunting and we wanted to be certain that this was
the right thing for our school to do. We believe the long-term
benefits will be substantial. The process of getting to this point,
where the installation is complete and electricity is being generated,
has been positive and trouble free. I am therefore pleased that we
have found at excellent company to work with on this exciting new
venture.”
Andre Baird
Former Head of School

5
Mountjoy School
50 kWp – 04/19

“I just like to pass on a huge thank you from the staff and students
of Mountjoy School for your input into our Eco-Week. Both the
assembly and workshops were expertly pitched for our students, and
both were really enjoyed. The students who took part in the
workshops were, literally, buzzing all day. Thank you again and
hopefully there might be a time when you would be able to visit us
again.“
Kevin Broadway

6
Irby Primary School

"Having solar on the school with Solar for Schools has been a
marvellous experience. We have embraced it and loved the whole
school approach with the staff and children being involved. It is not
just about saving money. It is much more than that and Solar for
Schools delivers that. The process has been very organised, efficient,
well managed and the installation was great. The team on site took
into consideration the school, how we worked and respected our
policies. Following the installation, we have had some wonderful
visits that has brought us all together to celebrate having a
renewable energy and what that means to us and our children's
futures.”

The Dassett CofE Primary
120 kWp – 09/18 “Solar for Schools has been incredibly helpful. The information they
have given us has been clear and they have accommodated our
needs throughout. The installation was brilliant and the team were
extremely considerate. I would happily recommend Solar for Schools
to other schools considering having solar.”
Alison Hine
Former Head Teacher

“The reason we went with Solar for Schools is that it is dedicated to

working with schools. It has the right ethos and credentials. It was
not looking to make a quick buck, by renting a roof, putting panels
on it and running away with the profits. The team has been helpful,
informed, realistic, engaged, interested in what we wanted to
achieve and with its focus on education and a long-term relationship
was the best fit for us. In the future we will not have the price
exposure we would have had with rising energy prices, We will work
together to share profit and find the best ways to enhance our
children’s education.”
Julian Leslie

Head of Electricity Network Development, National Grid

They have a strong “can do” attitude forging a genuine partnership:
indispensable elements to a successful project. We have been
impressed with the works; any issues are dealt with quickly and it
has been a very rewarding experience for all of us. We are now
working together on ideas to promote the initiative.”
