Lesson Plan in Science 8

July 18, 2019

Thursday
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
I. Objective: At the end of the period, students are expected to;

a. compute for the value of Work done.

II. Subject Matter:

a. TOPIC: WORK
b. REFERENCE: Grade 8 Learners Module pp. 24.
c. MATERIALS: PowerPoint Presentation
d. STRATEGY: Board work (computation)

III. Procedure:
A. Preparatory Activities:
1. Prayer: Assigned student will lead the prayer
2. Greetings:
3. Arranging of Chairs:
4. Checking of Attendance: By the class secretary

B. Motivation:
- clip art will be shown to the class.
- they will be ask about there understanding on the
Picture.
-Asked them if Work can be calculated

C. Review:
- show sample pictures of work done and no work done.
- let students identify each picture as THERE IS WORK DONE
and NO WORK DONE.

1. NO WORK DONE 2. WORK IS DONE

3. WORK IS DONE 4. No WORK IS DONE

No WORK IS DONE

- Present the generalization of the previous topic.

D. Lesson Proper:
- students will be asked to name the different variables involved for a WORK TO BE DONE
such as DISPLACEMENT(Distance) and FORCE.
- introduce the formula. (W= F x d)
Present Sample Problem Solving:
1. If a car was pushed with 500 newtons of force for 5 meters, how much work was done?
2.How many joules of work are done against a cart when a force of 50 N pushes it 3 meters away.

- Group students into 5 groups.

- each group will be given different problems about WORK.
- instructions are written on the activity sheets for students to follow.
- They will be given 10 minutes to do their activity and present their answers to the class.
- Each group will prepare a yells to be presented after their presentation.

E. Discussion:
- After the allotted time, each group will present their answer to class through a representative.

F. Generalization:
- The teacher will facilitate the oral questioning which will be done in a random order.
- Students will be called to answer a specific question:
1. What happens to the work done if the force is DOUBLED? How about if TRIPLED?
2. What do you think is the relationship of FORCE , DISPLACEMENT(distance) and
WORK?
G. Valuing:
LET STUDENTS READ THE QOUTE:

“Hard WORK is a TWO Way Street,

You Get exactly what you PUT IN.”
- Ask students there point of view about the quote.

IV.EVALUATION:
Direction: Compute for the value of Work done. (5 pts. Each)
1. Consider a block weighing 2.0 Newton raised 4 meters upwards. How much work is this?
2. Tommy does 15 joules of work to push the pencil over 1 meter. How much force did he use?
3. How much work is done when a force 33 Newton pulls a wagon 13 meters away?

V. ASSIGNMENT:
RESEARCH ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF WORK TO ENERGY.
