LG Adjustment and Spare Part Instruction
LG Adjustment and Spare Part Instruction
General information:
In booms with one cylinder system, there is a length sensor for this tele-cylinder. This sensor is from
FSG. Now there are two types of this sensor available.
· Old model:
Adjustment of the sensor with screws. Potentiometric encoder system, output 4 – 20mA.
· New model:
Adjustment of the sensor with buttons. Magnetic encoder system, output 4 – 20mA.

3. Adjustment of length sensor in case of spare part
Check on list above if you have the right sensor with you.
Before you remove old length sensor, fill out the following form:
d) Is there some water, ice or dirt in the sensor case? Pull out the wire from the drum. Are there
some noticeable problems?
e) Is the rope ok? Is there some dirt or ice on it? Is the rope torn off and if, why and where?
f) Check the electronic connection of the length sensor. Is the plug ok (not over winded, no
corrosion, no water or dirt in it). Is the installation of the cable strainless or is there some
damage?

g) If possible, note the sensor data on zero point and max. point of the length detector. Check if the
run of the signal is continuous.
h) If possible, make a new adjustment on LMB-System (AML) and/or on length sensor (I-Flex and
AML) like description on the following pages. Does this new adjustment eliminate the error? Note
the sensor data on zero point and max. point of the length detector.
Important:
Send these two sites back to TFG and QS-Department (Mr. Anwand).
Take some pictures of the visible damages and attach these.

3.1. Adjustment of old model of length sensor
AML-B System: Normally adjustment only with AML-B (see chap. 3.2.1). Only if this procedure
doesn’
t work, continue with this chapter
§ Fully retract boom. Connect C-pin at 0% position of Tele 1. Do retract operation and eliminate
pin gap.
§ Adjust the length on your LMB-Display with the 0%-screw on the length sensor to 0.00 m.
§ Then connect C-pin at 100% position of your outer boom section. Do retract operation and
eliminate pin gap.
§ Adjust the length on your LMB-Display with the 100%-screw on the length sensor to your
crane dependent value (see table below).
§ Confirm 0% position and readjust if needed, then confirm 100% position and readjust if
needed.

3.2. Adjustment of new model of length sensor
AML-B System: The adjustment is possible with AML-B and on the length sensor. Usually the
adjustment is only done with the AML-B. Only if this way doesn’
t work, adjust the length sensor.
When possible do the following workings in automatic telescope mode. When not, use the manual
mode, be carefully.
§ Fully retract boom. Connect C-pin at 0% position of Tele 1. Do retract operation and eliminate
pin gap.
§ Do the adjustment on AML-B. Go to menu sensor adjustment and choose with the cursor the
tele cylinder length zero point adjustment. Set the value to 0.00m
§ Then connect C-pin to your outer boom section and telescope out until 100% position and
lock boom pin. Do retract operation and eliminate pin gap.
§ In AML-B set your cursor to the tele cylinder length span point adjustment. Adjust this value
dependent on your crane type (see table below).
If the values of your crane are completely out of range or wrong in the direction of rotation then you
must adjust the length sensor (next chapter).

3.2.2. Adjustment at length sensor (only if 3.2.1 doesn’t work)
§ Fully retract boom. Connect C-pin at 0% position of Tele 1. Do retract operation and eliminate
pin gap.
§ Press quickly 2x the red button (program mode on)
§ Press 1x the green button 0% (initial transmitter position)
§ Connect C-pin to your outer boom section and telescope out until 100% position and lock boom
pin. Do retract operation and eliminate pin gap.
§ Press 1x the green button 100% (final transmitter position)
§ Press quickly 2x the red button (program mode off)
Remark:
If the length sensor is in program mode, the LED is on.
For the programming of the length sensor you have 3 minutes, before the program modus is getting
automatically off (Timeout if no button is pressed). If this is the case, you have to start over.
After the adjustment of the length sensor, do the AML-B adjustment (chap. 3.2.1) again.
