Summary Paragraph of the Value of Determining the Target Types and Matching The Learning Targets to Assessment Methods and
Making a Blueprint
The value of determining the Target Types and matching the Learning Targets to assessment methods and making a blueprint is to
make sure that everyone involved (teachers, students, administrators, and parents) are all aware of the expectations of the unit of study.
According to Classroom Assessment for Student Learning: Doing it Right – Using it well by Jan Chappuis and Rick Stiggins, “Acceptable
matches result in accurate information gathered as efficiently as possible” (Chappuis & Stiggins, pg. 105). It is important for Target Types
to match the Learning Targets so that the group has precise information and is productive.
