Scenario:

8 ½” hole section through a benign shale and the reservoir

The drilling fluid (MW 1.59 SG) was sheared by CBU x 8 prior to the FIT at the 9-5/8” shoe

RSS BHA with LWD and formation pressure testing tool

Question:
What could be the cause of the high ECD (higher than the model predicts)?
- ECD at the BHA (PWD tool) is shown by the blue
circular markers with no fill.

- ECD as modelled is shown by the blue curves for


three different flow rates.

- ECD as measured by the PWD tool is consistently


~0.5 SG higher than the model predicts.
