before writing your paragraph.

What to do?
1) Write a short paragraph under the topic “Why Study at UNJA?”;
2) You should include all the elements of the paragraph in your own paragraph. There
are two examples of paragraphs given in the appendix. You may choose either to
place your topic sentence at the beginning or end of your paragraph. Don’t forget
to explain each element as shown in the examples (see them on the last two pages
of this handout);
3) Give a suitable title for your paragraph, for example, “My favorite University”;
4) Count your words and place them beneath your title;
5) Copy each of the elements after your paragraph as shown in the two examples;

Gold
(Word Count: 130 Words)

Gold, a precious metal, is prized for two important characteristics. First of all, gold has a
lustrous beauty that is resistant to corrosion. Therefore, it is suitable for jewelry, coins, and
ornamental purposes. Gold never needs to be polished and will remain beautiful forever. For
example, a Macedonian coin remains as untarnished today as the day it was made 25 centuries
ago. Another important characteristic of gold is its usefulness to industry and science. For many
years, it has been used in hundreds of industrial applications, such as photography and dentistry.
The most recent use of gold is astronauts’ suits. Astronauts were gold-plated heat shields for
protection when they went outside spaceships in space. In conclusion, gold is treasured not only
for its beauty but also for its utility.
