PURPOSE
This assignment aims to assess learners’ understanding of children’s mathematical skills
development.

PART I

QUESTION 1: WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT (30%)

Young children should experience effective, research-based curriculum and teaching
practices. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) affirm that high-quality and
challenging mathematics education must be made accessible to young children as it is a vital
foundation for future mathematics learning.

You are required to Describe TWO theories in learning Mathematics and their influence on
learning Mathematics skills for young children.

Your assignment should comprise the following aspects:

1. Introduction to learning mathematics
2. Elaboration of TWO theories in learning mathematics and their application to learning
mathematical skills for young children
3. Conclusion

You are required to prepare a Daily Lesson Plan (LP) for four years old children. You are
required to implement the lesson in a preschool nearest to you. Do a self-reflection of your

related teaching and learning in the setting as evidence. Discuss how these activities
encourage children to participate actively in teaching and learning.

TUJUAN
Tugasan ini bertujuan untuk menaksir pemahaman pelajar tentang perkembangan
kemahiran matematik kanak-kanak.

Kanak-kanak kecil harus diberi peluang untuk mengalami kurikulum berasaskan
penyelidikan dan amalan pengajaran yang efektif. The National Council of Teachers of
